What's with all the injuries lately?
I think people read the e-stats on this site, and then think they should be lifting more - so they go out and hurt themselves.....
Lift safe, ppl.

Check your ego at the door.
But there are those that get injured because there form is poor or their concentration goes out the window on big lifts.

i think some people just push their limits too far. i mean its good if you want to improve and push your limits but you have to realise that sometimes pushing that limit means ripping a muscle...

Well my injury wasn't from lifting, it was from wrestling.

ahahha people injure themselves because they are lifting weight that they can simply push up or pull down a few times.....
REMEMBER NEWBIES: for example when benching... when bringing the weight down to your chest, GO SLOW, don't let it fall fast.
I laugh when people are lifting weights and are benching 225 yet they go down fast then push up... if you do it right you'd have trouble with 185....
remember: for pushing exercises: FAST UP, REALLY SLOW DOWN
: for pulling exercises: FAST DOWN, SLOW UP
you get the point hopefully

fast up is right b/c you are actually INCREASING the amount of tension you place on the muscle by ACCELERATING the weight against the force of gravity. As fast as you can push the weight up in a controlled fashion is best....your concentric should be explosive and controlled, and eccentric should always be slow 3-4 seconds. If you can't do that with the weight you're using, you need to lighten it..
The motion is an effort to place as much force on the muscle as possible using TECHNIQUE rather than WEIGHT HANDLED.
So....from the perspective of the muscle: the amount of force placed on the muscle fibers itself can be the same with say....300lbs with **** form vs 200lbs using proper technique...
