Body for Life??

Hey everyone!

I first have to say that this site is great! I wanted to get your thoughts on body for life. I am the dieting, lose weight, gain weight, workout, not workout...queen!! I did body for life for about 7 weeks and saw results but wasn't too sure on the workouts or the myoplex lite for that matter. Has anyone seen major results with it? Any ideas on better diets or workouts?? Circuit training??

I fell off after the 7 weeks and went on vacation and it all went downhill from there. I'm wanting to get back on track but didn't know if I should get back on body for life or if someone felt there was a better way to go about losing fat and gaining muscle Any thoughts would be great! Sorry for the rambling

Personally, I think the BFL program is fine. However, its like anything else in the sense that it requires dedication and the right attitude. There is nothing special about that particular program at all. It just guides you for the most part.

There is a lot of info here that can be invaluable to you when you're ready.

Good luck!

Sounds to me like you just need something you can stick to. People "fall off the wagon" because their diet is unnatural to them or they follow it too strictly.

I never really cared for bread, so eating a low carb diet was and is still pretty easy for me. You just have to find some healthy foods you actually like and consider them your diet loopholes. And feel free to eat anything you want at least once a week, just to keep sane. One meal won't kill your results.

By the same token, if you can't stick to working out, switch that up with different activities. Martial arts, dancing, yoga, swimming, sports, rock climbing, anything that doesn't feel like work. These things might not be as "optimal" for burning fat/adding muscle as weightlifting is, but if you can get "addicted" to one of them, you're better off than trying (and failing) to stick to some rigid workout program.

BFL is designed to sell you their bars and supplements. While they're good and all, lots of people here get phenomenal results just with carefully chosen whole foods.

I did BFL for awhile, but I think many people don't get enough calories on it and skimp on the fat. Also, I'm not a big fan of fasted workouts. It's a good starting point though!

I love BFL. It has really helped me overhaul my dieting. However, I do better with more workouts and more frequent cardio than BFL recommends. I also shy away from the ready to drinks and opt for a very high quality protein isolate.

You can find some pretty amazing transformations and get more pointers at www. bodyforlife-tracker. com

Good luck!

I did BfL years ago, it was what helped me learn about and adapt to eating 5-6 times a day. That was a great bonus for me. I also got nice results.

If I was going to do it again, I wouldn't do fasted workouts. I know the book etc say that doing your workouts first thing in the morning on an empty stomach is the best way to go, but more current thinking on that subject is different. I honestly think that you can do your workouts in the evening, or any time, but you should eat something first.

If nothing else, its a good tool for coaching you into good nutritional habits. The only thing I will say about that is to watch your free days. Don't go bananas scoffing everything you've dreamed of all week, just have 1 or 2 little treats. Its easy to blow an entire week's calorie deficit on one free day!
