Last Saturday (20th March) was the IFBB Australian Grand Prix.
It was actually the first Pro show I have seen and what an experience. There were some great names there. In the line-up was:
Christian Lobarede
Dexter Jackson
Ronny Rockel
Michalis Kypreos
Chris Cormier
Charles Duca
Greg Dwyer
Johnnie Jackson
King Kamali
Mark Lampard
Stan McCrary
Markus Ruhl
Justin Rys
Thomas Stellander
Craig Titus
Idrise Ward-El
Luke Wood
Jaraslav Horvath.
Everyone looked huge and ripped and the routines were very entertaining (especially King Kamali done ala Terminator style with an awesome display of muscle control and great choreography).
Markus Rule looked truly massive and one of the crowd favourites.
Dexter Jackson and Chris Cormier were also in awesome shape and entertained us with their friendly rivalry during the comparisons and pose down.
The girls were in great shape too. I was working backstage helping Sharon Waters to prep them for the comp so I'll have plenty of pics to post as soon as I go through my video footage and get my still photo's developed.
Deborah Salakowski won the womens figure section. Needless to say, she was very excited about it. Atually, it was a real buzz for me too. I worked with her remixing and preparing the music for her routine.
The placings were:
5th - King Kamali (I thought he'd place higher but the competition was so close),
4th - Jaraslav Horvath,
3rd - Markus Ruhl,
2nd - Chris Cormier,
1st - Dexter Jackson.
It was a wonderful experience getting to meet the pros and have some pics taken with them at the weigh-in the night before.
Another highlight for me was being invited by Chris Cormier back to his motel room. I have a boyfriend though and would never cheat on him.
