is fish oil worth taking if i already eat a can of tuna a day?

would a can of tuna cover me for all the omega 3 fatty acids, or would there still be benefit to me taking the stuff?

I'd still take the fish oil

A can of tuna has what 1 gram fat or so. I am not even sure how much of that is EPA/DHA. My guess is not enough. It is hard to get high dosed of EPA/DHA even using salmon.

Fish oil is just a much more concentrated and efficient source.

Tuna contains essentially no omega 3 fatty acids. You need to be eating cold water fish that eat sea weed.

Yeah, that's where the omega 3s come from: seaweed. Anchovies, sardines, salmon, and a few others are great sources.

And you don't want these to be farm-raised fish, as they aren't fed sea weed. So your best best is going with anchovies or sardines unless you know the salmon are wild-caught.

i asked some people about mercury poisoning, my exercise science teacher who seems to know his stuff said a can a day wont do any harm most likely. he said youd hafta eat more tuna than just 5 to 7 cans a week to get mercury poisoning. so im not worried.

but i still wanna know about flax seed oil. i heard someone say you dont need it if you take fish oil. like theres no point in taking both. but do they serve different purposes?
