How much do you pay for your Gym Membership?

I currently belong to 24hr Fitness and pay $40 a month for single-gym membership. I also paid a $200 enrollment fee.

I am looking for a new gym with a better deal and trying to see what franchise gyms might be charging.

Golds Gym offered me a $0 enrollment fee with a monthly membership of $30 + tax. Is this a good deal for a gym?

I've been very happy with LA Fitness for years. Renewal is $300 per year, which is $25 a month, but if you renew a little early they've always thrown in two extra months, so you get 14 months for $300, which works out to under $22 per.

The four or five I've frequented in SoCal have always been clean and well-equipped, and well above bare bones - racquetball, swimming, sauna, steam, etc. - in addition to TONS of cardio, lots of decent machines, and what looks to be a good area for free weights. I'll be keeping my membership up even tho I finally just got some decent home equipment. And even tho they're name after my home town, I see there's one near you:

I'd highly recommend that you check it out.

PS There may have been a one-time "set up" or "initiation" fee when you first sign up, but i got the feeling it was a bit negotiable.

Definitely go with the Golds. I was a member with one of their gym here in CA prior to the completion of my home gym. I payed the exact amount they offered you. I kept my membership as long as I could even when I completed building my gym because of all the PR memories I had there. Unfortunately they had to close down because all the foo-foo gyms were taking over. The newer Gold's that are built in this area is charging $50-70/month now so $30/month is a steal. The thing about commercial gyms is that you never know when they are going to close down or relocate on you.

Got my 24 hour fitness membership back in 84, so I only pay $99 a year. I got it back when they were called 24hr Nautilus. Man its been a long time! Oh yeah, I also get access to all clubs.
