    Osgood Slaughter Question

for those who know what this is. when i squat and go down i feel the excrusiating pressure and pain on my lower knees. It hurts alot but the next day its a little bit better. nothing too serious and i've bee doin this for a month now. and so i was wondering.

is it bad for me to do squats with osgood slaughter?

Ok ive seen a doctor about it

Looks like do what you can stand the pain to do.

Its not going to get worse from lifting, only more sore.

I had Osgood Slaughter when I was a teenager in both knees. This was in the 1980's. There was nothing that could really be done. (at least at the time) All I could do was to ice my knees and try to keep down the swelling. Thank God the cartilage finaly developed and it hasn't bothered my in nearly 20 years. I had good days and really bad days. On the bad days all I could do was to take it easy and try not to damage the bones and create spurrs. My best advice is... if it hurts don't do it.

Does it hurt everytime you do squats or hurts on bad days for no reason? Try wearing knee supports. That sometimes eased the pain for me. Try googling it and see what you can find.

    It's Osgood-Schlatter, not slaughter!

And you shouldn't be doing squats, as stress on the patellar tendon is going to increase your pain and symptoms dramatically as it can cause multiple small avulsion fractures around the tibial tuberosity, as well as tendon inflammation.

Stop squats until you reach complete skeletal maturity (I'd wait until you are at least 18/19yrs).
The first rule of cheat club is you do not talk about cheat club. The second rule of cheat club is you DO NOT talk about cheat club. Third rule of cheat cub, someone yells stop!, goes limp, taps out, the cheat is over. Fourth rule, one cheat at a time, fellas. Fifth rule, cheats will go on as long as they have to. And the sixth and final rule, if this is your first night at cheat club, you have to cheat.

On days it hurts don't do it. It will get more inflammed. It shouldn't be a problem if you do squats. Get x-rays on your knees. Make sure everything is ok. Make sure no sprurs have developed because Osgood can possibly cause shin splints with strain. Have it closely monitored by your doctor.
