Ever lost a pet?
My parents called me yesterday with the bad news that my cat Waldo had not come home in the morning to eat his breakfast. They were looking for himm all over the place trying to see if he had gotten run-over or something.
Still no sign of Waldo. He's 11 and rarely left the property. They think someone might have stolen him but this doesen't make sense.
Something like that ever happen to anyone?

My kittie has been gone for 6 days in the winter once, it was pretty cold and it was about 5 feet of snow, and my cat was only 1 year old at that time... Luckily she returned and has just turned 4 in March I hope your cat gets found/returns reksman

It's happening right now. We moved new house recently, he went outside and jumped over the wall a couple of weeks ago and i haven't seen him since. I checked my old house, and had a few looks around the area but no luck.
It's a real shame, he was about 12 years old and i've basically grown up with him since i was around 7 years old. I would hate it to end like this

Hope this is the case with yours and hope he has a safe return.

Yeah it's a similar situation. He's cross-eyed and doesen't see too well (we think, because he runs into things) He is very nervous and runs and hides from people so I doubt that someone would have walked up to him and taken him. Maybe something ate him? Hopefully he'll come back.

Hate to be the one to tell you this, but he probably went off to die in peace. I just had a dog do that.
He was 14-15 years old and could barely walk and was missing most of his teeth.
He was just gone one day. He never left our yard and nobody in his right mind would steal that dog. I knew what had happened and didn't even bother looking for him. It was just his time.
Hope I'm wrong, good luck finding him.

Put reward posters. My dog ran off last year and was gone overnight. I put up some reward posters the next day and had a call in like 25 mins. Some b1tch had apparently found him wandering around and was going to keep him (he had his collar/tags on when he ran off but they were magically gone when I picked him up).

When my cat was 14 she disappeared and never came back.
I was leaving the house for the school bus one morning and she was on the front porch. My guess is that she wanted to come inside, but I didn't feel like trying to find my key to let her back in. I thought my mom would when she left which was about 30 minutes later. That was the last time I saw her. She had never been a sick cat either. I thought she would be around for so much longer. I miss her sooooo much. My Ferris. RIP. =[
But when she was younger she diseppeared one week before Christmas. Put up posters with a reward offer, put an ad in the paper... etc. Mom, Dad and I were wrapping a few last minute gifts on Christmas Eve and I was very depressed because Ferris had not come home. All of a sudden I hear a scratch at the door and I yelled to my mom that I had heard something. She told me to stop messing with her as she was depressed as well. Then I heard it again. I ran to the door and there was my Ferris. It was the best Christmas ever that year.
Good Luck.

my dog went missing for a day, searched everywhere, someone had kidnapped him, but he made it home the next morning.
as far as cats, 11 is old, my cat disappeared one day, hes never stepped out of the door, rarely goes out into the garden. our front gate was open and i think he waddled out. havent seen him since. no 'traces' either.
still dont know why and how. yes, cats rnt as loyal as dogs, but cats have dependencies on their owners, so it makes no sense for them to run away. i can only assume it go run over or catnapped.

Same with my cat. He was extremely cautious and nervous and very much an indoor cat. He wouldn't approach anything he was unsure of. I was expecting he had hidden somewhere nearby and i would either find him or he would return home. But after 2 weeks you start to think maybe not.

Thanks. The posters sound like a good idea. I've seen them at times and wondered if they work. I guess they work.
We've actually had people pull over to look at him and inquire if "she" was due beacue they wanted kittens. The problem is that it wasn't a "she" and there were no kittens on the way. He was well fed.

Another option would be to check out the local animal shelter. If the owner doesn't come by within a couple days, they will put the animal up for adoption.
That happened to my girlfriend's dog. They got to the animal shelter before the dog was put up for adoption.

Thanks.
When he was young he went missing for 2 weeks (went to run arround withthe ladies). When he came back he was skinny and had been in fights and had parasites. We took him to the vet and had him fixed that very day he came back. He never really left the house after that.

If the animal shelter gets hold of your pet where im at, u have a week to get it. After tht, well, i probably shudn say it bein this is a missing pet thread.

Our chinchilla has ran away twice. Both times people have found it running around at the end of the road. Yes, this is in England.

on a separate note; I feel stupid for being sad. I know he's just a cat but I've had him for over a third of my life.

Don't state the reward amount in the reward posters. This will lead to fraud/con attempts
Do a google search on "how to find lost pet" and you'll get some helpful results.
My cat disappeared for 4 days once and then he came back. Thank God. Having a pet disappear for good is always tough because you never know what happened and you're always left wondering. Closure would always be nice.

Lets see 3 of my dogs were killed by parvo, one died on the operating table after he had something lodged in his stomach, one I had put to sleep in front of me and I cried, 3 of my cats were ran over by a car on the same street. Another of my dogs had a seizure and died in my moms arms. And I had a small turtle I named Oreo that was eaten by one of my dogs. All of this happened between the ages of 8-13 for me. Parts of my childhood has been pretty fcked up I guess I could say. Also, all of my dogs were young, most of them puppys. That is why I never by a dog until its around 6 months or so because that means its had all of its shots ect. I bought a 6 month old chocolate lab AKC certified from someone for like $300 and she's now 4 and I couldnt be happier. Make sure you buy a dog from a reputable breeder is all I can say I guess.

Don't feel stupid! He's not just a cat, he's a member of your family, a friend, something to love and care for. Its completely natural to feel sad when something like this happens.

I had our parrot on my shoulder and I stepped outside for a second. This should tell you how well-trained it was, as I had total confidence he would not fly away. The phone rang and scared him and he, well, flew away.

My mom thought she had some pyschic connection with our cockateel, so she never clipped his wings or anything b/c she didn't want to hurt him. Then one day she got the great idea to just open his cage up outside so he could smell the fresh air or something :-\ Bye Charlie...:-(

My blind (yes 100% blind) cat, Mr Hog; went missing on the 11th and has come back today half the size. Amazing since he can hardly find his way around the house and we live in a rural area.
