Can't stop drinking Coffee in the morning
I work full time, and get into work roughly 9.30am every day. First thing I do is get a coffee (Cappuccino if I got some time). But then, sadly, this ties me over until Lunch (12 midday).
If I force myself, I can do 2 slices of wholemeal bread on Crunchy Peanut Butter with a coffee, until Lunch.
I think it's really affected me. I always have issues getting below 12% BF. At the moment, I'm roughly 15-16%.
I find it annoying, because from lunch onwards, my diet is really, really good. High protein, minimal fats, as to the best of my ability, slow GI Carbs (wholemeal etc). I usually have 4 meals like this from lunch onwards till dinner including a Protein Shake.
Anyone have any tips of getting out of the bad habit? Should I be trying to ditch the coffees (obviously appetite suppressant) or should I just be forcing myself to have 2 small meals before lunch?
I work in IT, so during the day I sadly don't move much. So it's pretty easy to see how coffee + sitting on leather chair doesnt make me the slightest bit hungry. Plus I'm really busy which means 9-12 goes in a couple minutes.
Thanks

Force yourself to eat. Set the alarm on your watch, if you have to.
Even if you just have to start with a Whey Shake. You will get in the habit.

I'd lose the cappuccino as they contain lots of calories and fat. Drink black coffee. Make a whey/casein based protein shake first thing in the am and that should sustain you until you feel like eating again at lunchtime. I do this exact routine every morning.

You might do better with a liquid breakfast such as a protein shake. I find that I usually do the same- my stomach just doesn't like solids early in the morning. If you start it off slow with coffee and then a protein shake, then a couple hours later something solid and more substantial- you may find it easier to get down

Coffee is really not that bad if you only drink a cup. What's bad is the cream, sugar, etc. that goes into it. Try it with skim milk and Splenda if you must drink it.

If you want to lose the fat, get up early, have two cups of black coffee (add a little Splenda to make it sweet) then hit the treadmill for an hour. Your stomach is empty so you'll burn more fat, plus the coffee helps your body to release the fat stores.
Nobody can change your habits except you!

Thanks all, I'm now happily on tea with no sugar. I do put a drop of low fat milk into it. But I'm happy the sugar is out.

cream with your coffee is fine if it fits the macros for the day. i avoid plain sugars like the plague though. Once you start force feeding yourself in the morning for a few weeks your body will take over and you will be hungry in the morning if you do not eat. breakfast is arguably one of the most important meals of the day, always eat breakfast.

OK...you addressed the coffee situation, but what about the meals? Are you doing better at getting a good breakfast?
When my friend convinced me into switching over to 5 or 6 meals a day, I complained to him that I wasn't really hungry. He told me that I wasn't eating BECAUSE I was hungry, I was eating to keep from getting hungry. It's like fueling your car. You don't wait till it's all the way out. You fill it to keep from getting all the way out.

I can't help you with the coffee(hate the stuff) but it seems like you are getting that in check.
As far as the meals go. I have been having troubles hitting proper calorie intake since I work normally from about 7:30-6:30 everyday in a labor job that is busy. What I have been doing to help is taking a couple shaker bottles with whey protein., takes a second to add water and shake and then you have a good drink to last a while.
good luck!

While I don't think you 'need' a shake as soon as you get up, and not eating from say 8am to 12pm is not that bad - hell only 4 hours!, you DEFINITELY should get a 'good' breakfast in at 9am.
If you have an office job breakfast does not have to be high carb - although if that makes it easier to get something in, then go for it. Even cereal+milk+good protein would be decent.
Bread+PB = no protein. Not good IMO.
I don't think coffee is you problem - except possibly calories if you are not careful
If the calories fit into your macros though, I don't see much wrong with a good breakfast and having milk/cream in your coffee.
Then again, something tells me that if you are stuck at 15%BF, it's not simply a question of eating a bit more at breakfast and ditching the coffee.

While bread/PB is not the most well rounded meal, it sure is a lot better than nothing in your stomach for four hours!
BTW- I do not know what kind of PB you eat, but mine sure has a decent amount of protein.

Thanks. I've started having a Protein shake and a Banana in the morning. I can keep it down and feel good without a massive bloat.
My diet roughly looks like this:
8am: 1 Scoop ON Whey Protein shake (200ml skin milk) + Banana
9am: Cup of tea, touch of milk no sugar
11am: 2 slices wholemeal bread + can of tuna
3pm: 2 slices wholemeal bread + Peanut Butter
6pm: 1 Scoop ON Whey Protein shake (200ml skin milk)
** WORKOUT **
8pm: Minimal carbs, protein/fat. ie. Beef or chicken breast with vegies. Maybe a cup of rice.
I'm 6' - 88KG, on my 2nd day of my cut. I'm roughly 18% BF. 78-80KG at 10% BF I'll be happy with.
I work in an Office job.

As long as you don't put anything in you coffee except zero calorie sweetener such as splenda or sweet and low it is fine in fact many studies have found that the caffeine in it will help rev up your metabolism and hence help you burn fat. But the others are right you NEED to eat in the morning to get you metabolism going in the first place try the liquid thing in fact they have cappuccino flavored whey if you like the taste.

If you want to sort of get the cappuccino effect take 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 tbsp instant coffee, 1-2 packets of Splenda, blend or shake, heat it up in the microwave if you would like and voila, a healthy alternative to cappuccino and cafe mochas.

Plan Ahead
I have 8 am classes everyday and the night before I always scramble my egg whites, prep any veggies to go in the omlette and measure out my oats. I also pack my mid-morning snack (1oz almonds, peice of fruit). It saves me about 10-15 minutes in the morning. Invest in a coffee maker with a timer and have it set for when you wake up (15 minutes earlier than normal) and make your own coffee without the sugar loaded garbage in capps. If you want to stray away from coffee, try green tea- ANTIOXIDANTS!!! Woo hoo!

me neither lol. but my appetite is generally pretty big in the mornings and i have no problem getting a proper breakfast in alongside my coffee.
you just have to train your body to eat in the mornings. when i didn't do it for a while i would always feel queasy in the mornings and not hungry at all, but after a week or 2 of eating breakfast your body will ask for it.

A morning without coffee is generally a sign I'm too sick to get out of bed. But I usually drink black americanos so there's no calories unless I make a cappuccino as a treat. I make rad coffee.
