What vertical pulling movements do you do? Try pullups and lat pulldowns if you don't do them already.
Here's some more ideas: http://www.exrx.net/Lists/ExList/Bac...l#anchor125439

Well, I'd say that Front Chins (also known as Pull-Ups, obviously) are probably the best thing for the LATS ... as for thickness in the back - go with any good forms of heavy rowing. I know you said LATS, so we'll stay with that. How many Front Chins can you do with your bodyweight in good form? If you can do more than 12 to 15 or so, I'd say that adding weight to yourself when doing these would really help your back the most in terms of width. Finish off with Pull-Downs, so your already tired LATS get burned to the max, and this way ... you really can't swing at all, mainly because you're sitting. That was my two cents. Tell me what you think, gattaz69.

Also, a narrow grip on barbell rows will increasingly engage the lats.

He looks like he's pretty advanced from his pic so its safe to assume he's tried all the basics & is after something a little different. I would suggest try a pre-exhaust. Theory is as you probably know, in compounds the smaller muscles (bi's in this case) may fail first & hold you back so do an isolation for the big muscle (lats) first to pre-exh it. Start of with the pullover machine which completely isolates the lats coz youre moving the bar with your elbows. If you cant get to one do straight arm db pullovers or straight arm pulldowns. Then do the compund like pulldowns or chins where the biceps will be relatively fresh. Now here's the trick - then do heavy Bent arm pullovers where the triceps are now the secondary muscle. So you first pre-exh the lats with an isolation, then hit them with a compound with fresh biceps, the hit them with a compound with fresh triceps.
With the bent arm pullovers keep your elbows close to your head as possible (the more they flare out the more they hit chest). Also the pre-exh technique normally involves no rest between the movements so you end up doing a tri-set in this case. Try this, but also in other sessions do normal heavy sets but still using this sequence of movements. You get to go heavy & still get a fair bit of 'pre-exh' effect.

I have had great strenght gains after not progressing at all after I started to do really low reps in a cable pulldown, reps 2-4 (yeah, sounds low, but worked for me). Lots of quite easy sets, 8-10 of them. I haven`t gone to failure. I know you might not care about strength gains but I assure you my back has been growing enought. And after this you can always chance back to higher reps. You could give it a go if you are interested.
