Transform My Body -
Hello all -
Well, this is the first time I have started a thread. Been a member for a while. I competed twice over 5 years ago, and after getting married and having children, found myself fat and out of shape. While I have been consistently working out over the years, my intensity and diet were not where they needed to be. Well, the diet quite frankly was horrible.
In December, I chose to change my life forever. I hooked up with an excellent trainer, and have been on an excellent diet that has me losing a lot of bodyfat while not losing too much weight. I had the goal when I started that I would compete on November 17, 2007 at the OCB Midwest States. While it has not all been rosy (I partially tore my left pectoral), I am now almost 100% and have been making incredible gains.
I am trying to do this is phases, because I had a alot of weight to lose first. I have another month or so to go and then I will be adding a few more calories into my diet for 2-3 months, then I will have a 16 week contest prep for my show. I want to be within 15 pounds of my contest weight when I finish the first phase. Although it has been difficult at times, I have stayed completely focused on my diet, while striking that balance between family, work and bodybuilding. Obviously, being 41, my body doesn't respond the same as it did even 6 years ago, so I am learning to be patient and the results are coming.
I am currently in week 18 and we will be taking more photo's after week 20, at which time I will post the before and after pics thus far. In the meantime, here are a few of my changes:
December 18, 2006 April 16, 2007
Weight 194.5 173.5 (-21 lbs)
Waist 40.25" 33" (-7.25")
Arms 16.5" 16.5" (-0-)
Legs 24" 23.5" (-.5")
I have lost some size in my chest, but am gaining much of it back as I was unable to do chest for 6 weeks or so.
There are a lot of very inspirational people on this forum and I am happy I joined. Thanks for reading!
Mike

11 week out pictures
Well, it has been a long time coming, but I finally got the nerve to put up some pictures. To update all of you with my progress, I am currently 160 in these pics and 11 weeks out from my comp. on 10/27/07.
The results I have had on my transformation have been amazing. Since December, 2006, I have lost 32 pounds and close to 12" off my waist! I am very excited for my upcoming comp. and hope you guys and gals could give me some constructive criticism if possible.
I will post a before and a final after closer to the competition, but I am living proof that through hard work and perseverence, you can make great strides in building your physiques naturally even at the tender age of 41!
Now I am a bodybuilder for life!

Original Pictures versus 2 weeks out
Hello all -
Well, I have been posting in the Contest Section for a while because I am getting ready to do a show in 10 days. Well, I started this thread several months ago and I have decided to put some before and after pictures on here. It takes alot of nerve to put the "before" pictures on here, but I KNOW that I will NEVER be that person again. The "before" pictures were taken December 18, 2007, while the "after" pictures were taken last Saturday - a total of roughly 10.5 months.
I hope this gives everyone an idea that ANYONE can make change, and in some cases, drastic change in their bodies over a relatively short period of time. Here is the timeline and some factual information of my transformation:
"Before" pictures - Weight - 190
Bodyfat % - roughly 24%
Waist measurement - 41"
"After" pictures - Weight 153
Bodyfat % - 4.5%
Waist Measurement - 28"
Needless to say, I have worked very hard, but many of you work just as hard or harder. The one thing that has given me the most success is staying consistent on my diet - consistency is the key, and do not be afraid to change it up every once in a while both diet and training wise. So, just when you think you cannot get through another low carb day, just take out an old picture of yourself, believe me, you will stay motivated.
I know we all have some sort of story of why we do what we do, I just wanted to thank you for letting me share mine with you.
Mike

Amazing
Thanks for posting those before and after....it really shows how hard you have worked and how far you have come. I can't wait to see your show pictures...I plan on doing a show next year and threads like these are what has shown me it can be done.
Paul.

Transformation made Magazine!
So, I am thumbing through my current edition of Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness and bam! there I am looking like a deer caught in the head light in my posers on page 64! And that aweful before picture - wow, is that really me?
Anyway, my prep trainer said he was going to send in the article but I certainly did not think it would be published! How cool!!
Just shows with hard work and determination, anything is possible even at the ripe age of 41!

csarin -
Thanks for the compliment. I did not use a fat burner, only did it through diet alone. I did use supplements including protein powder, creatine (off and on), BCAA's, and a few others, but these were my staples.
I was very good on my diet for a long period of time eating lean meats, complex carbs and quality fats. I would suggest hooking up with a nutritionist or someone on here like Layne Norton or someone, if you are interested in getting ripped - it is all going to depend on your body type and metabolism, etc... lots of factors go into what your diet should look like. I am certainly no expert.
Good luck.
Mike

Mike - Great work! As I sit here about 1/2 way through a prep diet, this is exactly the kind of motivation I need. It's what I love about this forum. Just about the time I get to thinking this is impossible, someone like you comes along!!! Thanks!!
