Help really fast; Tren top came off
I went to pin just now, and I opened my drawer where I keep all of my gear, and the green top that you pierce when you draw the tren was missing. I have NO IDEA what happened to it. I am always so careful when moving my gear. Does this mean that it's no longer sterile? Nothing seems to be floating in it. I replaced the top with the top of a 50ml cottenseed oil jug (however I don't think that's sterile). Is it still safe to draw from it? It HAD to have been that way since I last pinned which was Tuesday. It was in a closed drawer and the tren had not spilled over. It was just sitting there like normal without the top on it. No idea why!

There are no words to describe how absolutely pissed I am right now. I guess all I can do is continue with the prop for the remainder of my cycle? I can't believe all that ****ing tren is gone. I had like 5 more weeks on this cycle. And now I have to deal with shooting prop by itself so I'll probably be crippled.

Just refilter it like what was stated above. I always have extra filters because **** does happens. You can get filters at getpinz.com Make sure you buy a sterile vial to transfer it into. I would go ahead and buy a few extra filters and vials too, they're cheap. If you're really in a pinch, they'll do express shipping.

You don't want to use the tren, it's not worth an abscess is it? You can have your filters and vials by tomorrow if you order it now.

Okay I have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about in regards to filters. Is it a syringe filter? I'm on their website now, and I'm not sure what you're telling me to get. I get a pre-sealed vial to transfer into. Is what you're saying to buy syringe filters, then take a syringe with the filter on it, draw from the now non-sterile tren bottle, and transfer contents to the sterile pre sealed jug?

Why would he send me a new one when it was probably my fault? I don't remember the top coming off or anything like that. I remember putting it back into the drawer and when I re-opened the drawer this morning, the top was off (but the tren was still sitting upright).

Haha I'd have some big ass rodents.
Did you read my description of filtering? Is that how it's done? I have to go to the gym now. I'll be back on later.

This should be all you need. Draw your tren up into a syringe. put your filter on. then trasfer your Tren into your new sealed vial.

These guys probably know better than me but I had this happen to a vial of Test E. My source replaced the gear but said it should be fine to use anyway. I used it with no problems.
The oil they use has a small percentage of alcohol so it shouldnt become unsterile that easily.

You could use a syringe filter if you would like. Opt for a .2 micron filter or better because anything above .2 (or .22) will not sterilize your tren. When I'm sterilizing solution in my lab I generally use a vacuum filter because I find it works much better, has less chance of contamination, and is more efficient. However, I don't know if you have access to a vacuum source. If you don't, use the syringe filter as pu**** suggests.
On a side note, I would recommend to anyone attempting sterile procedure when sterilizing gear both during homebrewing and not, to have an open flame source (bunsen burner or something similar) about a foot away (a little more if the solute is highly flamable but I've never had a problem before). This creates an updraft in the air and helps keep microbes and dust particles out of what you're doing. Just something I picked up when biohoods (laminar flow hoods) aren't available.
Question, is any gear UV sensitive?

Well, the whatman syringe filter on getpinz is .45u. Does that mean it's no good to me?
If I should filter then transfer, do I have to bake it in the oven?

.45 micron filters do not sterilize because some microbes are smaller than that. They just get larger particles out. www.researchlabsupply.com has .22 syringe filters. I don't know what to do when it comes to baking because I'm not ready to use gear yet and haven't, but I'm sure the more experienced guys here can answer that question. I'm only good at lab work and biology/biochem =P

Thanks. This sucks so friggin much. I wish I could tell my girlfriend that I'm on and what happened because she's getting her Phd in chemistry and is known in the chemistry department here for being amazing in the lab I know she'd be able to help. I suck at lab work, which is why I'm going the M.D. route

I hear ya man. After I'm done here I'm planning on getting my PhD in either microbiology or tumor biology. I thought about the MD route but I'm the opposite of you and am not too fond of clinical. I'm sure your gf would be able to help out a bunch with the facilities she has on hand too. I've been trying to figure out something you can do while waiting for the filters to come in the mail but I'm drawing blanks.

If i ordered the .2u Whatman syringe filter on that site you sent me, does it come with more than one syringe filter? Do I NEED more than one or can one take care of the rest of my tren (about 30 something ml)?

I'm not sure if it comes with more than one or not. I would call them and find out. Also, I don't know what size syringes you have but if you have a syringe that can fit 30 ml I'm sure one filter would be sufficient. This is probably something else you should ask them (what volume the filter is good for) incase you would need to fill your syringe a few times. Remember, filter out, fill your syring normally first then attach the filter. If you attach and unattach the filter multiple times it could become contaminated. You might be able to get away with it if you do all of this in a very short amount of time, but someone who uses syringe filters more often than I do should answer this question. In the lab I generally just throw them out after each use because I don't have to worry about funding. I'm not sure if you actually have to or not.

Well, all my syringes at best hold 3ml. So if I had 30ml left, I'd have to go through 10 filters. That's 50 bucks plus shipping. God.. this sucks SO much.

That can only happen if you remove all the aluminum that holds the rubber in place... You didn't know that you only need remove the center tab?? You're going to be a doctor and you didn't know that??

you could get a bigger syringe. Like I said, I'm not positive that it is bad to reattach the filter, I just normally throw them away. I'm sure someone will get on that can answer that question who uses syringe filters more regularly.
You could also call the website and tell them that you would like to know if you can unattach and reattach the filter without compromising sterility. They shouldn't ask why but if they do just say you need it to filter some broth you are using for your son/cousin/whomever's science fair experiment.

Do you know the mix? Your source can probably tell you how much BA is in there already. You may be able to add a little extra BA to the mix when you filter it to ensure sterility from here on out. Just be aware that a total BA content of over 7-8% can cause some extra injection pain, but it would be worth the assurance that the gear is sterile and it's only for what's left anyway. Good luck!

BA doesn't kill bacteria, it inhibits the growth/reproduction of bacteria.
