vegetables? they are bland, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of beneficial stuff in them, and they never fill me up. im not dissing, im just wondering. (ok well im kindof dissing because i hate vegetables!!! ) but really, im curious.

Depends how they're cooked. If you boil them for ages then yes, they are bland - and nutritionally dead. If steamed, or (as I do) heated in a frying pan (with a little water, no oil), they are really nice - especially if you have an assortment of them, as the different flavours really come out.

The way some people cook them, this is true though.... people don't realise that by boiling and boiling for ages, they're killing all that's good in them.

Also, if you microwave them in a lot of water, they use a lot of nutrients.

I am not a HUGE veggie fan, but I do love broad beans with brown rice.... I also love carrots, peas, cauliflower and corn..... I don't really like broccoli much so that is one thing I have to force down...

The best way to get your veggies if you aren't much of a fan is in a stir fry....

well if you are looking at it in a weight loss/fat loss point-of-view

They are very important as they control insulin levels in ways that you cannot do with protein /fat/and carbs alone.

You will become soooo much leaner if you pound the vegis.

thank you for the information. i posted this thread after looking at the nutritional facts in my veggies and it just didnt seem like much there, but ill take ya'lls word for it!

lou, i also love stir fry! i have to 'choke down' broccoli too...maybe thats why i was getting frustrated because thats all we have in the house right now! i am definately going to pick up some peas and carrots. what is a broad bean?

    thanks, clare
