Lose Fat AND gain muscle
I am about sixty pounds overweight. I want to lose fat (weight) and develop muscle at the same time. I weigh 230 but I know that it's possible to be developed at 185. I'm pretty clueless right now and I'm suffering from info overload. Any ideas to break the fog?

It does not work that way.
Focus on a good diet to lose the weight first and then look to build.

I just searched for this topic and thought i would show my interest. I lift 45-60 mins a 3 times a week, have a clean diet. low fat, low sugar, high protien roughly 120 to 150g/day. i do mild cardio, such and bike riding and rollerblading, as often as possible. 4-5 days a week.
I would like to continue lifting, and gaining muscle, but i would like to lose more weight. 5-7 lbs by beginning of june, essentially to get my BF% down to 9-11% without losing any muscle i have gained.

There are some claims that by timing when you eat you can affect this a little. I would say it's much better to focus on one or the other at any given time. There's nothing wrong with cutting a month and then bulking a month. You can't be in that much of a hurry.
If you're worried about what you'll look like thinner, bulk now.

I was just reading up on the Keto diet http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=36497
Sounds like it might be just what you (myself included) are looking for. But I am going to have to do some more research

Thanks for the info, everybody. As a novice bodybuilder, it is dizzying to read a bb'ing mag or visit a forum website like this. I think I'm on my way to finding out what I truly need to do based off of the goals I want to accomplish. I don't want to be a Jay Cutler, competing type of bb'er, I want to feel good and eliminate my flab. I of course don't want to vomit after a short sprint and physical struggle with a shoplifter, either (I work in retail). I'll keep you guys posted on my progress. Thanks, again!

This probably isn't the answer you're looking for, but this article gets linked to from time to time here, and is a good read:
