    HIIT after Weight Training

Today i wanted to try HIIT for the first time. I got to the gym and trained my Legs and Abs. When I finished my workout, I had My Postworkout shake. After that I did 15 minutes of HIIT. Is it okay to perform HIIT after weight training then having my post workout shake? Thanks in advance.

If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way.

it's generally not a good idea to do any sort of cardio immediately after your workout, unless you are not concerned with muscle retention. Basically, your cortisol levels(hormone that aids in breaking down muscle tissue for energy) are near their peak at the end of your workout. also, your muscle glycogen will be fairly depleted, leaving you without much stored energy to do HIIT, so your body may need to turn to other sources to catobolize for energy (possibly muscle tissue).

Not a good Idea to do HIIT after doing legs. Heck I avoid doing cardio on leg day at all. Your gonna be really sore. As the previous poster said your already going to catabolize muscle for energy during your hiit workout. Try to put the HIIT on your off days.

i only do cardio post workout if it's low intensity (walk on treadmill at 3.0 or so)....HIIT after a workout is a bad idea for reasons stated above. If you choose to do HIIT, make sure you do it 30-45 minutes after a good meal. Peace

A post workout shake would not count as a good meal prior to HIIT, correct?

not really. even if it was, it is still too close to your workout. you should try to keep at least 6 hours between your weight training and cardio.

if you can do HIIT right after doing weights or even a few hours after doing weights you arnt hitting the iron hard enough. espesially if you did legs. I can barely walk down the stairs of the gym after squatting.
