    Skull-crushers

How much can you lift on skull-crushers.I just did them awhile ago,for the first time-in my workout that is posted on this page{with the help of Zulu and Powerlifter16},and I could only lift my bar weight-15lbs.-on skull-crushers.How much weight can you get up on skull-crushers,and how much weight could you get up on them when you first started?

I would do 110 for 3 sets of 8-12, but it started really hurting my elbows.

I find I cant get a good enough squeeze with dumbells with a heavy enough weight. It a good fatigue excercise though.

Lie on a bench (or floor)...grab the bb or dbs and press up (like a bench press)....Keeping your upper arms straight and elbows in, lower bar towards your forehead (hence skullcrushers)....bring the bar back up....repeat.

I don't do skullcrushers on a regular basis, but sometimes I like to add them into my routine when I want to change things around and shock my muscles up. The last time I had them in my routine I had 160lbs (on a barbell of course) for 5-6 reps (take in mind I would usually do them at the end of my workout and my tri's were already worn out from jm presses, and pushdowns), but that was about 2-3 weeks ago since I've done them. And when I first started, I could barely do two 10's on each side on a curl bar (around 50lbs combined weight).
    What motivates you?

Skull crushers are elbow killers... for me atleast... I feel a wierd tension in my elbows. That's when I go to the tricep pushdown and bang out 6-8 reps with 100lbs. With skull crushers anything that even resembles a heavy weight puts more strain on my elbows before I can even overload my tri's. The only way I can relieve that strain is to really use bad form to the point that its not doing anything for my tris.

I don't do them. Start doing more close grip benching, it works better. I am up to a 445lb close grip these days. When I hit 500 I am going to switch to regualr benching again. CLOSE GRIPS RULE!!!!!!!

Heavy skullcrushers and behind the neck dumbell extensions have trashed my elbows.

Trust me, its not worth it in the long run. Stick to close grip bench and one or two pulley exercises for triceps. Your elbows will thank you for it.

10 years ago I maxed my lying extensions equal to my bodyweight @ 185#.
Now my arms are about 1" smaller and I'm lucky to bang out a set with 135 without my elbow or wrist bugging me.
