here is my question...is it unusual to GCBP the same amount of weight as to regular bench press it....b/c for some reason i can do a few more reps close grip vs. regular bench press.
for example here is my workout....and dont laugh im only 150lbs and ive only been lifting for about 6 or 7 months heh.
bench press 2 sets of 6 145lbs
1 set of 4 155lbs
CGBP 2 sets of 8-10 135 lbs
1 set of 6 145lbs
does that seem normal...cuz for some reason i thought that one should be able to bench a greater amount of weight when compared to close-grip???

are you stuck at a plateau? perhaps consider using DBs for benching- easier on the shoulders too.

i find it unusual.
i can press 85lb DB's flat bench, and about 200 flat BB.
I've also been lifting 7 months and weigh in at about 147.
But as for CGBP, i can only load the EZ bar w/ about 2 45's and 2 35's. that's what, 90+70+15 = 175.
Try to keep your elbows tucked, touching your lats as you go perform the lift.
There's no way i can add any more weight to the CGBP. That's my heaviest set for about 5 reps + 1 forced.

if you are relatively new to weight lifting, this is NORMAL. you will notice a larger gap between the numbers as you progress in years.
when i first started lifting, i would bench 135 and CG 100, today, my worksets on bench may be 305, and if tris are trained immediately following chest, my CG is around 225.
so, give it time, there are many anomolies out there.
everyone is different, there is a chance the numbers will always be close (so when your benching 500, you'll be cg the same, SWEET! )
