Workout one body part a day?

Question for those who do one body part a day and have done other ways as well (ie.. full body 3x week, 4 day splits and so on.)

What is the benefit of working one body part a day for 6 days with 1 rest day?

Is it more benefical than the other routines listed above?

How long do you workout? (30 min - 1 hour?)

How many exercises do you do for each body part?

Can a person gain muscle and lose body fat with this workout style?

Any sample workout programs for this workout style welcome. Thanks

I go to the gym for 5 days mon.-fri. (sat. or sun. if miss one weekday day) I last about 45-2 hours in the gym. Each day I do an different bodypart. Mondays is LEGS. Tuesday is BACK. Wednesday is SHOULDERS. Thursday is ARMS. Fridays is CHEST. I find it better than doing two body parts a day. I feel it better and would rather feel the body part I'm working on pumped together as one whole.

It also depends on how intense your workout it. If your doing each exercise to exhaustion then 1 body part per day is better. However, if you do light weights not to exhaustion, it maybe possible to workout the same muscle groups 2x a week, given adequate rest time in between. Hope that helps.

I have a propensity to kill myself in the gym for a good hour & a half. The recuperation time allotted by a 4 day program is a fantastic tool.
If you plan on competing, dividing into 4 days allows you to focus on all bodyparts with great intensity.
Example of my split; Day 1-Quads, hams, calves,
Day 2-back, traps, rear delts, abs
Day 3-chest, side and front delts, calves
    Day 4-triceps, biceps, forearms, abs
I train continual days until I need a rest. Hope this helps.

I thrive on one body part a day. Not only due to my schedule which is about 45-50 mins on the weekdays, it allows me to fully focus on ONE muscle. Heavy/light/dropsets/21's/anything and everything. I dont really count sets anymore but I know its right around 15-20 per workout.

I dont have to worry about , you still have another body part, after...plus after about an hour of intense training, youre pretty wiped out. I've done it for years and continue to make gains.

Try it...just go in focused on one muscle, and working the hell out of it.

    x2 ( what he said )
mon chest , tues legs , wed shoulder ,thu back , fri arms
sat "lagging day " traps , calfs, forearms
abs 4 days aweek , cardio 5-6 days a week
train like hell , rest as needed
been doing this for years , works well for me
if i take more than 1 day off , it messes with my drive and focus , so i only take 1 day off a week . if i need it im not afraid to rest though , gotta listen to your body .
