    What are compound and isolation exercises?

    Sorry for what may seem like a stupid post, but what is a definition of compound and isolation exercises?

    compound=multiple muscle groups...eg: bench press(triceps,chest,anterior delts, lats{or so im told}), pullups(lats,biceps,forearms)

    isolation= one muscle group...eg:biceps curls,skullcrushers

    bump to V5RED. Lats are used in the bench press mainly at the beginning especially if you use a large arch.

    If barbell curls and skull crushers are done correctly then they are isolation movements. Chin ups and forms of pressing would be the compound movements for bis and tris.
