    help with program

    Ok, here is the deal....

I need to both gain stregnth and lower my heart rate in order to pass an upcoming test related to my work. What is the best way to do this? I have been doing weights 4-5 times a week, and cardio 45 min sessions 5-6 times a week. Any help here would be helpful since i am really at a loss here, it seems as though i can't make any progress at all. Any ideas as to what program or cardio program i could follow would be great....thanks!

Have you taken some tests with a doctor to make sure your fast heartbeat isn't related to a condition first?

How high is your heart rate when your doing cardio and how long of a break do you take in between your sets while lifting? If your doing cardio at a slow steady pace and not gettin your heart rate up then start runnin faster. If your takeing long breaks between your sets when lifting then shorten them down to 30-45 second breaks.

    hi guys.....thanks for replying

My heart rate is getting up to 177 while doing cardio....this is not at a crazy intensity either, just a normal cardio workout. I feel fine, like not killing myself or anything, but the heart rate is crazy. During my weights, i have been resting for 45sec to 1 min.......maybe i will shorten up that time and try 30 sec rests. Over the last 3 weeks i have noticed that it's taking longer for my heartrate to reach a high level.....which i would see as a good thing. Thanks...
