Low diastolic pressure, what does that mean? (serious)

I got my blood pressure checked and i got:

    Systolic: 107
    Diastoic: 49
    Pulse: 88

Now the doc said my daistolic pressure is very low.

I'm only 17 5'8 180 lbs. it was at a pharmacy so the doc there just said i should get it done by my family doc.

But what you guys think. I don't think it's a big deal, and I don't want to go to my doc, especially cause I can't, I don't have one.

So does anyone know anything about this subject, thanks.

diastolic is the pressure in your heart directly after it beats. during workout it will drop and having a low diastoic pressure is nothing to worry about.

that's a pretty high pulse though.

no its not, perfectly fine pulse.

a low/high systolic bp would be a bigger deal than a d. Id go get it checked out but i doubt its anything to worry about.

a pulse of 88 is fine, mines 60, if its over 100 or around there id start worrying.

pfft what was it one of those computerized "stick your arm in" supermarket machines? you should know what your avg. blood pressure is by now from your last few physicals/doctor's office visits.

you were probably walking around before you got it tested, right? could explain the high-ish pulse.

actually, diastolic pressure is more important than systolic.

Systolic is the heart pumping out blood and diastolic is heart relaxing(blood going back). Your diastolic pressure should be about 80.

pulse really isn't that high. its definately on the higher end of normal, but still well within the normal ranges. definately not something you woudl consider tachycardic, or even something to worry about for that matter.

i agree, but a BP that low is indicative of an athlete or trained person; pulse just seems a little out of place.

OP, nothing useful will come of this thread, go to your doctor lol..

this was at a grocery store/pharmacy though. he was almost definately walking around a little bit, probably pushing a cart or holding a basket with **** in it. that could more than explain the elevated pulse.

You should not go to the Misc. section for medical advice...there are professionals that handle that, where I come from we call them by their traditional title, "Doctor"

Your blood pressure being low isn't as big a deal as it being high. Mine is usually around 110/60 and you aren't far off from that. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Your pulse however is a little high.

Dude, you are absolutely fine. I WISH mine was that low. Doc told me, there's really no such thing as too low a blood pressure unless you are near dying.

It's a problem when you stand up and feel dizzy. That's when you see a doc.

Thanks to everyone who posted, and reps were given out for quality of posts.

But the reason I posted in the misc. was because I don't care much really, but my friend had a little interest in it, and is a little worried on my part wanting me to go to a doctor.

he's the type of dude that always goes to the doctor and looks into anything he sees wrong with his body, which is good.

I usually let things go and things will fix themselves. So I posted here after searching google to sort of ease his anxiety, lol.

But yeah, I did it at a drug store, but I tried to do it perfectly. I sat down and relaxed for 15 min. cause my buddy was waiting for a prescription to get filled. Then I went sat down adn didn't move or speak during the assessment. I did it twice and got around the same averages.

And the doc asked if I feel dizzy when I stand up, and that actually happens frequently, I just told him that it occurs once in awhile. But it actually happens quite frequently and my friend even said he's noticed that.
