# Thread: How much does an "F" bring down your GPA (serious)

1. ## How much does an "F" bring down your GPA (serious)

...in college? I heard from somebody it brings it down a whole point. If that's the case, I'm f*cked out of this world.

2. cause it counts for 0.00 i think

so having a 0 can really fu<k with your average

3. i think it depends how far u r in the marking period

4. if youre getting As, 1 F will bring it down about 1 point. If youre getting Ds, its no big deal

5. Maybe you should figure out what a GRADE POINT AVERAGE IS, and figure it out yourself.

Then again, you probably got an F for a reason. Dumbass.

6. By 0.666 (ect.) I think.

HAHAHHAHHA

REPPED

10. the F is worth 0 grade points. d=1 c=2 b=3 a=4

add you grade points and divide them by the number of classes.
In college mutiply the grade points by the number of credit hours each class is worth. Then divide by the total number of credit hours your taking

11. Wow, you obviously can't do simple math so you definitely deserve that F I assume (and your C's and D's). You're in college, try a bit and up the grades, it's not that hard if commit yourself a bit.

Anyway here's how it's done:

A = 4
A - = 3.7
B + = 3.3
B = 3
B - = 2.7
And so on...

Anyway, you multiple that number (they mgiht be a bit diff for ur school) by the number of credits (so you know how heavily it's weighted in your GPA).

Then you divide by the total credits and you have an answer...your average GPA!

Oh man, that's hard.

not all schools are on a plus minus system

I said that his school might have different numbers. I'm just giving an example there.

But if it doesn't have plus and minus it's still going to be A = 4, B = 3, etc... just like I had.

Well I didn't ask how to do the math...if I had known the formula in the first place, I would've been able to do it. I just wanted to know how much damage an F would do. I can do math just fine, so you guys stop jumping to conclusions. Thanks for typing all that **** up anyway though.

15. It screws you over big time. I bombed calc my first semester and even though all the rest of my grades were average my g.p.a. looked like **** cuz calc is a 4 credit class. I'm takin it over tho so its all good. Advice.. if you think you might fail drop the class, if it's too late, definitely take it over and get that replaced towards your gpa

Yeah it's way too late to drop. And at my school, no matter how many times you take a class, each time counts toward your GPA, instead of only the best one...sucks major ass.

17. the more important note is that you're most likely going to have to retake the class for credit towards graduation. the grade should be replaced in you gpa but will still appear on your transcripts

Well the fact that you don't know how to average your GPA is bad.

Also, you realize we can't tell you how much damage an F could do because it depends on all your grades. If you have all 100 credits of C's and than have an F in one 3 credit course... obviously it'll drop your grade less than if you had 21 credits of A's and got a 3 credit F.
