How many calories does weight lifting burn?

I heard a lot of it was after lifting through muscle lipolysis (sp?). Is this true? Does this mean I shouldn't work out at night?
    Current Stats

    Bench Press: 225x5
ATG Squats: 205x8 (just started...I know it sucks but I can't increase it until my next bulk)
    Deadlifts: 315x5
    Rows: 185x8

    I rep back.

It's not about burning calories while you do it, weight lifting is great for revving up your metabolism, and will burn more calories throughout the day. Plus any muscle you add burns more calories than fat. So overall you should keep lifting.

i bought a polar f6 heart rate monitor... the thing tracks your heart rate and how many calories you burn based on your weight, age, and hr... its supposed to be as acurate as an ekg... but as a general rule... me and my 3 workout buddies burn about 600-900 calories without cardio, doing a 1 hour 15 min workout before doing any kind of cardio... but the positive thing about the hr monitor is that you can try to keep your hr at a fat burning level, so that more of the calories you burn are from fats.... any quesitons... just ask or PM me...
    200lbs. . . . . . . . . . . . I'll rep back 800+ :)
