    Thoughts on Subway

Well after work today I had to go out of town... I didn't have time to make anything to eat at home since this was an un-expected turn of events. So I opted to go o subway.
I got a footlong oven roasted chicken breast with lettuce, tomato and cucumbers...

I dont think this is a bad choice but I do feel kind of guilty for eating out.....
    Whats your thoughts on Subway?

    High sodium? pfft..

I'm forced to eat subway everyday for lunch because of my schedule; no cheese and no mayo.

If someone experienced says it's not good for you; than I'll have to change my schedule though!

Avoid the tuna because they drench it in mayo. It has something like 30 grams of fat per 6 inch sub. I used to order it all the time thinking it was super healthy but finally looked at the nutrition menu and was shocked.

Agree 100%! I'm about the sweet onion sauce too, it doesn't have a lot of calories (40 per 6" sub). I get sweet onion sauce, on turkey, ham, club, and sweet onion chicken teriyaki.

I eat there. never feel guilty about it. its definitely one of the better "fast" food places.

I eat there all the time too, I don't feel guilty, it's much better than any other fast food place out there. As long as you don't get the fatty sauces, maybe cut out the cheese, you'll be fine.

I always get a footlong roasted chicken breast on wheat with lettuce, onions, green peppers, a truck load of vinegar, and NO cheese.

Roughly 660 cal, but I always eat 6 inches and come back for the other part for another meal. Good stuff.

Foot long roasted chicken breast hu? I wonder what kind of chicken that came off of. =P

Anyways. Ya Subway is good. Beats just about any other fast food out there. Just pass on the oil and mayo (I think the mayo is nasty anyways).

Don't like Subway so I don't eat there, but you do have to be careful about what you're getting there because all their food hides under the disguise of being a healthier option. Spend some time reading their nutrition charts so you can at least make informed decisions instead of *thinking* something is healthy then finding out later it's really not. I mean, McDonald's has salads and people think those are healthy, but look at the charts and some of them have more calories and crap in them than a Big Mac.

Anyway, if it's just this one time I wouldn't waste one second worrying about it. The one time won't matter, it's the one time that turns into 3 or 4 times a week that can sneak up on you if you're not careful, especially if you don't fit it into the rest of your calories for the day.

Yeah the sushi and seafood IS great here, man. I have fresh salmon and lots of different kinds of broiled/grilled fish every day. Might be a little nasty smelling by the time it gets to you, though. And if you could mail me a 6" Grilled Chicken Breast on wheat with double meat...that'd be great.

I like Quizno's tons better than Subway. They seem to have a bigger variety and better tasting subs.

I agree! Definitely a fan of Quizno's over Subway, but thats just my opinion. I believe everyone else has been on track in saying that these places are some of the healthiest fast food choices if you must eat out.

Footlong Roast Beef on Wheat here. No cheese, all the veggies and spicy mustard. Damn good. I think it is like 600 calories and low fat. I try not to eat there too often, but when I am short on time, it is the best fast food option......and they are everywhere. I live in a small town and there are two of them. A Quizno's just opened up down the road. Never had it. Might check it out. I don't believe in the whole Jared diet, but it is not bad for you a time or two a week in a pinch.

    Have a good one.

I always thought of another decent alternative when eatting out which I eat maybe once every week or so. I'll go to Chik-a-fila and get me a Grilled Chicken Breast (no tomato for me) and a large fruit cup. Good stuff, good stuff.

Oh and Hetfield... send me some Conger! Tough to get some decent sushi so damn far inland. Best we get is some day old salmon.
