PYF's Nutrabolics Deca Stack Sponsored Log!

Introduction
I've been chosen to test Nutrabolics new preworkout formula : Deca Stack
Nutrabolics has been kind enough to send me a free tub to review and even thrown in 6 samples of isobolic whey isolate protein to try, which I will post a short review about later...
Even if it's a sponsored log, meaning that I didn't pay for the product, I'm gonna give an unbiased and honest review about the product, being negative or positive. I have no intentions to hype a product since I never did it in any of my logs, sponsored or not.

Diet
MAIN CARBOHYDRATES SOURCES: Pasta, Oatmeal, Potatoes, dextrose (Post-workout)
MAIN PROTEIN SOURCES: Eggs, Whey, Milk, Red Meat, chicken
MAIN FATS SOURCES: Sunflower oil, Milk, Natural Peanut Butter,Fish oil
Since I'm currently bulking, I will be aiming for 4200-4500 calories daily which is fairly easy aiming for a 40/40/20% macronutriments breakdown since I'm currently trying to minimize fat gains (clean bulking). Also getting everything from clean sources listed higher (No candies, alcohol or anything else cheating). I'm also CONSISTANT about it. Nothing like missing a meal or something like that. I'm having a bit of trouble eating as much on off day though...
I will be posting a daily macronutriments breakdown to give you an idea of what is going on excepting during the weekend. I think a log in incomplete without it because if I say a product doesn't work and I'm actually eating 1500 calories but not showing it, people could think the product isn't good while actually their diet isn't in check.
I will be allowing no more than one (1) cheat meal weekly probably consisting of something like a subway sandwich or something like that (No fatty fast food, ice cream, chocolate, candies)...Alcohol is not considered a cheat meal and won't be taken at all since it's counterproductive.
I will drink at least 2 gallons of water each day drinking at least 0.5 during my workout
Training
During the log, I will be using the PRRS system which is a 3 week cyclic program. It consist of a power week (P), a rep range week (RR) and a shock week (S). I've been using this programfor some time now and it's still giving me good results thus far as far as size and strenght is concerned. For that reason, I will continue using that training protocol.
Supplementation
I like trying a lot of supplements. I tried a lot and will try a lot more in the future
Supplements I Will be taking in this log:
-Whey
-Optimum Opti-Men (Multivitamin)
-Higher Power CEE (During weekend and post-workout)
-Now Fish Oil (2g/day)
-Controlled Labs Glycergrow (Have been taking it for a long time)
Supplements Of this kind I already tried:
Controlled Labs Green Bulge/White Blood Combo
Controlled Labs Green Magnitude
Gaspari Nutrition Superpump250
San V12
I didn't try a lot of creatine since I'm the kind of guy who like to take what works for me often since I don't want to waste money on a product that isn't working for me. For that reason, even If I've been running creatine for a long time, I've been running either bulk CEE or a controlled labs combo. I also took a couple of V12 tubs when I started training a while back.
Evaluation of the product
I will give my first impressions on the products about the taste and mixability of the product, which even if it's no big deal in the purchase of a supplement, is always interesting to know.
I will then give my opinion on what the Deca Stack is advertised for : Strenght gains, Size Gains, Energy, Pump And Focus in the gym...I will rate those 5 criterias each workout

First Impressions of the products:
Taste:7.5/10 It's no blue rasberry superpump 250 but it's better than White flood In my opinion. I have the orange flavor and I'd say it tastes tangy orange with a slight chemical after taste...It was weird yesterday but It wasn't bad today
Mixability: 10/10 Top notch...Nothing to complains about...I mix it with a spoon and there is nothing foaming or not mixing...

Monday 02/04/2007 Biceps/Triceps SHOCK WEEK...Workout 1
Today's Experience:
So it was the first day of for me on this new product...I must say that I wasn't really waiting for anything special since no product really acts in 1 day (Excepting for the energy/focus complex)...
I must say the workout was pretty good especially about the weekend I had (Let's just say I didn't have a so ****ty diet in a long time) but it's surely not related to the product...I'm kinda just updating to officially start this log
Today's Workout:

Calories: 4380
Proteins: 417
Carbs: 480
Fats: 91
39P/41C/19F Macronutriments %
WEIGHT GAIN SINCE LAST WEEK: ***IRRELEVANT***
Excepting having too much proteins coming from shake, everything is all good to go... With the weekend I had, I'll be resigning of a cheat meal for a long time
Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: N/A The workout was really good, but I can't attribute anything to the product as it was my first day taking it
Energy: 8.0 It surely got me going...I won't make comparaison yet with others products I've taken though...
Endurance: N/A Same as for strenght...
Pump: 8.0/10 The Pump was seriously good but I don't think I can attribuate it to the product anyway...
Focus & Drive: 8.5/10 Really seems to be the best part about that product...I was feeling like crushing through the weight without talking...
Side Effects: NONE

Tuesday 03/04/2007 Legs SHOCK WEEK...Workout 2
Today's Experience:
GRRR...Again I needed to get the hell out of there before the end of the workout. Legs presses completely killed my energy again...I was about to vomit everywhere or faint so I didn't do calves (I will do them thursday again)...I wouldn't qualify this workout a really good one though..
I felt kinda strong even if I was still a bit weaker than usual...This should be a good product
Today's Workout:
Legs Extensions Supersetted ATG Squat
195x12 + 205x6
195x9 + 205x4
Legs Presses
395x12
395x12
Legs Extensions With 3 Seconds Contraction
135x10
Lying Legs Curls Supersetted With Seated Leg Curls
95x10 + 75x10
95x8 + 75x10
Today's Diet:
Weight: 171.50
Calories: 4203
Proteins: 437
Carbs: 483
Fats: 63
42P/43C/14F Macronutriments %
Really adequate diet again! That's what I'm aiming for !
Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: 7.5/10 Nothing impressive today, but legs have been a bit weak for 2 weeks
Energy: 7.5/10 It was pretty good again today, had some energy to sell back !
Endurance: 8/10 A bit over-average
Pump: 8/10 Quads were still pumped really hard even if the workout wasn't that badass
Focus & Drive: 8/10 This product really gives you an edge on focus...you just want to do the job and GTFO
Additional Remarks: NONE
Side Effects: Feeling faint after leg presses...Had trouble finishing my sets because of that...seems to happens when I take too much stims

Thursday 05/04/2007 Back SHOCK WEEK...Workout 3
Today's Experience:
Despite having a so-so diet since I'M at my parent's home (Not that I eat bad, I just don't eat enough) and having a poor (really poor!) night of sleep, the workout ended up being pretty good. It wasn't really a draining workout (luckily !), but It felt pretty good...
Today's Workout:
Seated Rows Supersetted With One-Arm Dumbell Rows
160x9 + 65x10
160x8 + 65x8
Wide Grip Pullups Supersetted With Lats Pulldowns
BW x 6 + 130x7
BW x 3.5 + 115x6
Upright Rows Supersetted With Dumbells Shrugs
85x9 + 90x14
85x8 + 95x10
Gained a bit of strenght since last shock week, but that's about it...nothing really out of the ordinary for today, but I'm pretty pleased since the ''ideal'' conditions for a workout weren't present and I still got an over-average workout
Today's Diet:
Weight: XXX.XX
Calories: XXXX
Proteins: XXX
Carbs: XXX
Fats: XX
XXP/XXC/XXF Macronutriments %
I already mentioned that I won't post numbers until next tuesday...
Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: 8/10 Pretty pleased since I wasn't feeling really good
Energy: 7.5/10 Not that great today, but I was physically exhausted, so the product could not really help me...
Endurance: 7.5/10 It was decent today, but as I said, I really wasn't in my optimal condition today...
Pump: 8.5/10 Pretty good pump in middle back and lats...
Focus & Drive: 8.0/10 I struggled to go to the gym but I was really focused when I arrived
Additional Remarks: NONE
Side Effects: NONE

Friday 06/04/2007 Biceps/Triceps SHOCK WEEK...Workout 4
Today's Experience:
Almost bumped the poundage everywhere, so I would consider this workout another really good one ...Bumping the calories really seems to be helping at the moment (Strenght-wise) but the product is probably starting to help a bit too since I didn't really change anything special recently...
Today's Workout:
One-Arm Preacher Curl Supersetted With EZ Bar Curl
30x14 + 70x10
30x10 + 70x7
Hammer Curls Supersetted With Barbell Curls
35x9 + 50x8
35x8 + 50x7
Standing Alternate Curl Dropset
45x4 + 30x4
Triceps Pushdowns Supersetted With Dips
80x13 + BW x 12
80x9 + BW x 10
Close Grip Bench Press Supersetted With Underhand Grip Triceps Pushdown
145x7 (+2 Spotted Reps) + 50x10.5
145x5 (+1 Spotted Rep) + 50x6 (+1 Cheated Rep)
Overhead Dumbell Press Dropset
75x6 (+1 Spotted Rep) + 60x2
I really added weight almost everywhere (Excepting on CGBP )...I was getting exhausted at the end so I did use more weight but for a bit less reps...
Today's Diet:
Weight: XXX.XX
Calories: XXXX
Proteins: XXX
Carbs: XXX
Fats: XX
XXP/XXC/XXF Macronutriments %
A bit too much calories, not enough proteins, too much carbs (From oats, milk and fat-free tortillas though)
Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: 8.25/10 It's actually getting pretty interesting...I just don't want to says it's the product yet though...
Energy: 7.5/10 Felt pretty good...Energy doesn't seems to be this product's best attribute...It seems to play more on focus
Endurance: 7/10 Nothing out of the ordinary
Pump: 8/10 Biceps were kinda pumped but triceps weren't...Don't know why...That workout was intense
Focus & Drive: 8.5/10 I was really hyped for the workout beforehand but I wasn't even more when the DECA stack kicked in
Additional Remarks: NONE
Side Effects: NONE
The deca stack seems to be a decent product from what I see so far...I know there are some controversies about the use of the decanoate salt with various ingredients, and myself am a science guy, but there really seems to be something working in that powder tub...
STAY TUNED FOR MORE !

Monday 09/04/2007 Chest/Shoulders SHOCK WEEK...Workout 5
Today's Experience:
WHAT AN AWESOME CHEST WORKOUT...HAVEN'T BEEN SO GOOD IN A LONG TIME...
Seriously, I bumped the poundage on Every Exercices while getting as much or more reps (While still keeping a good form... I must admit I'm impressed...
I'm now using a wider grip on bench and military press, which seems to target the muscles a bit more but it's putting a bit more stress on the joints such as rotators cuffs too...
There is definitly something going on at the moment...
I must also add that I was at my highest weight since I've restarted in september...Gained 2 pounds since last week
Today's Workout:
Flat Bench Press
185x5 (+1 Spotted Rep)
185x3.5 (+0.5 Spotted Rep)
185x3 (+2 Spotteds Reps)
185x2.5 (+1.5 Spotteds Reps)

Dumbells Lateral Raises
30x6

30x6
Bent-Over Reverse Flyes
30x9
30x8
30x8
My bench is easily my worst weakness and it definitly didn't go too bad today...I'm really happy...got more reps than last power week while having 5 more pounds
Today's Diet:
Weight: 172.50
Calories: XXXX

WEIGHT GAIN SINCE LAST WEEK: +2.00 Pounds
I don't know why I gained that much weight ...I ate 4200-4500 calories from last monday to thursday, then didn't eat that much while at my parent's home...
Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: 9.0/10 I must really says I was impressed with today's workout...A workout like that haven't happened in a long time...Adding weight or reps everywhere...wow
Energy: 7.75/10 I was pretty much energized through the workout...Nothing radical though
Endurance: 7.0/10 Nothing out of the ordinary in that departement though...
Pump: 7.0/10 I didn't FEEL really pumped but I never really am on Power week...It's more of a blunt force day
Focus & Drive: 8.25/10 I was really motivated to go through that workout and everything went extremely well...
Additional Remarks: NONE
Side Effects: NONE
I think I can now attribute some effects to the deca stack since it's been a week...I must say I'm impressed so far...

Tuesday 10/04/2007 Legs POWER WEEK...Workout 6
Today's Experience:
Despite having a disturbed (and crappy) night of sleep, the workout was pretty awesome...read-on
I finally did 315 on squat...Feeling pretty good at the moment ...Having bumped the calories plus being on Nutrabolics Deca Stack really seems to be helping my case at the moment...I'm having great gains strenght-wise
I must admit that I don't know if my form was good on the squat since I completely disconnected my brain while going down with the bar on my traps...I found out that If I keep my consciousness while maxing on heavy power movements (aka deadlift or squat), I almost always fail for an unknown reason...Since I decided that I was gonna lift that damn 315 pounds, I needed to disconnect myself from the world for a few seconds lol...and it worked ...I almost felt frontward while going down though ...As I said, I don't know if I lowered enough, but I suppose I have since my brain understand that I want a real lift, not an ego-boosted one...
The rest of the workout was nothing out of the usual though....
Today's Workout:
ATG Squat
115x8
135x6
185x2
275x1
315x1 <--- New All-Time Personal Record
Lying Leg Curls
135x6
135x5
135x2.5
135x3
Seated Leg Curls
105x8
105x7.5
105x10
105x7.5
Legs Presses
505x4
505x5
505x4
505x4
As I said, it was a pretty good workout...Need squat max, got a bit stronger on hamstrings but lying leg curls sucked...I will need to re-incorporate Straight legged deadlift in my program (Not in power week though since it's taxing the lower back quite a bit when you do squat, sldl and deadlift in the same week )
Today's Diet:
Weight: 172.50
Calories: 3817
Proteins: 397
Carbs: 384
Fats: 79
42P/39C/19F Macronutriments %
I pretty much screwed up on calories today since my mom bought me another oatmeal brand, which is a cheaper version (Which is probably an higher glycemic index carb too ) which has less calories by cups.... I will fix that by tomorrow
Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: 8.5/10 A new all-time personal record...What can I ask more
Energy: 8.0/10 I was nicely energized today but not nearly as I was focused...I must admit I cheated and used 1.5 scoops since it was leg day...Good stuff though
Endurance: 6.25/10 There is really nothing special happening in that departement...not that I care, but I said I would rate the product on this criteria, and that's what I'm doing
Pump: 6.5/10 Nothing special...Power leg day isn't really ''pumping''
Focus & Drive: 8.5/10 1.5 Scoops of this stuff make me go crazy in a strange way...I love it...It's quite different that White flood or superpump 250...You just really gets in the zone all in one shot...
Additional Remarks: NONE
Side Effects: NONE
I'm still getting impressed...Can't wait until heavy deadlift days on thursday ...I wasn't really expecting anything about that product after reading a lot of things on it but there is definitly something working in there

Thursday 12/04/2007 Back POWER WEEK...Workout 7
Today's Experience:
I had a pretty good night of sleep (finally!) so I ended up being a bit less lethargic than the previous days...
Beside deadlift and pull-ups, the workout was pretty good, using higher poundage than last power week. Deadlift were awfully weak though, probably because of my squat max on tuesday. I was almost discouraged of not being able to pull 385 at leaste 7 times but oh well...I didn't do reverse barbell rows since a guy was waiting for the power rack and I had been using it for some time doing deads (At least he wanted to squat, not curl)...
I'd say it's the least good workout from last 2 week...
Today's Workout:
Deadlift With Straps
385x4
405x2
425x1
Seated Cable Rows
150x7
165x6.5
180x3.5
Wide Grip Pullups
BW+20 x 4
BW+20 x 3
Lats Pulldowns
195x4
180x6
185x5
185x5 (+1 Cheated Rep)
Upright Rows
100x6
100x5
100x5
Dumbell Shrugs
120x9
120x8
120x5 <--- Exhausted hands, even with straps
Today's Diet:

Calories: 4226
Proteins: 392
Carbs: 457
Fats: 93
38P/42C/20F Macronutriments %
Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: 8.0/10 As I said, it was pretty good excepting on deadlift (probably due to squat max) and pullups
Energy: 7.5/10 It was there, as always
Endurance: 7.5/10 I'd say it's a bit better than usual, but nothing to brag about
Pump: 6.5/10 No luck on getting pumped on power week...
Focus & Drive: 8.25/10 I was really motivated as always to go through the workout
Additional Remarks: I'm really getting used to the taste, it's not that bad after all...
Side Effects: NONE

Another ridiculously good workout...I'm amazed how good my workout are at the moment...I was extremely motivated to train with a friend of mine (Zizmet on the forum)...I really like to train at my hometown's gym
My triceps were still sore as hell but I managed to push nice numbers through the workout...I had to modify the routine a bit since I had a sharp pain in my left shoulders so I needed to cut it short on decline Bench press and pec deck...I also needed to swap lateral raised for front raises...
Getting stronger by the days

70x5.5 (+1.5 Spotted Rep)

Today's Diet:

Calories: XXXX
Proteins: XXX
Carbs: XXX
Fats: XX

WEIGHT GAIN SINCE LAST WEEK: +4.00 Pounds
What the hell is going on...How did I take 4 pounds during the week eating the same thing as usual while eating less during the weekend...
I WAS AT MY PARENT'S HOME TODAY SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE A LIFT TO GO BACK TO COLLEGE...ONLY MISSED 2 HOURS SO IT'S NOT THAT BAD :S
Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: 8.5/10 Over-average gains...I'm pretty pleased
Energy: 7.75/10 I was pretty much energized through the workout as always
Endurance: 7.5/10 A bit over-average here too

Tuesday 10/04/2007 Legs REP RANGE WEEK...Workout 10
Today's Experience:
Out of this world workout AGAIN
This workout was seriously (INSERT RANDOM APPRECIATIVE ADJECTIVE)...While last rep range's leg workout was ridiculously good (And was the best leg workout in a while), this one was 10 times better !
My form was perfect on squat (ATG), excepting my back leaning a bit forward, giving my quads an awesome pump...I putted 40 more pounds than 3 weeks ago on squat (But as I said, my legs were deconditioned because of a max attempt and a break week)...The last set of squads was really mentally demanding...
I also putted 25 more pounds on legs presses and added a set...It was a long time since I didn't have so much struggle to get out of the gym on my legs
HOPE I WILL BE SORE
Today's Workout:
ATG Squat
225x8
245x5
225x7
225x7
Lying Leg Curls
105x12
105x6
90x10
90x7
Legs Presses
395x15
395x15
395x15
395x15
As I said, it was an awesome workout...Really good numbers on everything, and form was near perfect...
Today's Diet:
Weight: 175.00
Calories: 3978
Proteins: 390
Carbs: 439
Fats: 75
40P/43C/17F Macronutriments %
Beside the fact I personally thinks I have too much proteins coming from whey, everything looks spot-on
Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: 9.25/10 I'm impressed by the progress I'm currently making on everything
Energy: 8.0/10 I was nicely energized today but not nearly as I was focused...I must admit I cheated AGAIN and used 1.5 scoops since it was leg day...Good stuff though
Endurance: 8.0/10 I was really able to get almost the same numbers of reps on every sets...that's great...
Pump: 8.75/10 It has been a long time since I didn't have that kind of pump in my quads !
Focus & Drive: 9.0/10 1.5 Scoops of this stuff make me go crazy in a strange way...It was almost too much pre-workout...But I was really in the zone under the squat bar

Not too bad of a workout...Deadlifts pretty much sucked again but my quads were blasted out of this world from tuesday's legs workout...I don't remember being sore like that in a long time ..

Total's Evaluation Of The Products:
Strenght: 7.5/10 Nothing really special, was a decent workout nonetheless though
Energy: 7.5/10 It was there, as always
Endurance: 8.25/10 It was pretty good...Beside a couples exceptions, I was able to do the same amount of reps on every sets...
Pump: 7.0/10 Really nothing exceptional
Focus & Drive: 7.75/10 I wasn't feeling that workout that much...It ended up being not too bad though
