Dancing...(and yes its a sport)
Anyone know the requirements of the professional sport cheerleading/Dance Teams. The websites have almost no info and I thought someone might be on a team or know someone who is or was
Thanks

If your college has a dance team or a cheerleading team, I'd say talk to the coach of one of those teams...he or she would probably be able to point you in the right direction

WHen you say "requirments", do you mean physical requirements?
I'm not an expert in dancing, naturally. However I would conclude that very good level of relative and bi-lateral strength and will be needed, great mobility of the hips along all 3 planes (especially rotational), good balance between mobility and stability of the shoulder unit, stabilized spine and some isometric strength.
In other words:
bi-lateral relative strength: (low reps, single-limb work, e.t.c)
hip mobility: dynamic stretching and active glutes
shoulder mobility/stability.
isometric strength.

for things like USA Cheer, i believe it just boils down to trying out and making the squad. i'm sure if you go to college, the dance/cheer team coach/instructor would have good info for you.

Yah, I did want to talk to the coach's of the school's I'm looking to transfer to but basketball season is a busy time and most of them have been too wrapped up to get back to me.
I only asked cause I thought sombody might have a sister or girlfriend on a big ten team or on a professional tream...I was planning on trying out for the luv-a-bulls (chicago bulls team) last year but I broke my ankle training for the chicago marathon so that was a bust.
any help is still appreciated

i think it mostly just boils down to tryouts. im assuming you have cheer experience. as you would probably know, a lot of it is about personality and style, with obviously dancing skill. from what i've seen from NFL tryouts, i believe they generally have a freestyle competition aswell.

Are you currently following a workout program. It comes down to tryouts but you should be working out regularly with weights to help with your jumps, flips, etc.
