Centrum doesn't really have a good reputation among those on these boards; low quality vitamins. Go search through the supplements forum. GNC, AST, and a couple others are usually recommended instead.

If by "low quality" you mean "dangerously reasonable in price", yes, that's true.

If you want to have really expensive piss and a lighter wallet, buy one of the GNC-type megavitamins designed "for bodybuilders." For everyone else, Centrum or a clone is just fine.

More like using more filler and binding agents than necessary, is the usual opinion. Also for not having the increased amounts of ingredients that most bodybuilders require (intense exercise leads to more intense needs for vitamin replenishment, as well as generating more free radicals than those with a sedentary lifestyle). Also for using synthetic equivalents of some vitamin agents, such as the vitamin E component.

So continue to take it. Whatever you think is best for you.

The vitamins they use are not "synthetic." They are merely synthetically derived, which is meaningless - vitamins are just compounds. How they are derived doesn't have any significance.

As for the claim that BBers require more vitamins, that's rather debatable. They do need more of certain ones, but not anywhere near the drastic amounts that most BBer vitamins offer, and if you eat properly any extra needs will probably be accounted for in your diet anyway.

One clarification here - you're right about the Vitamin E being different in its synthetic form. However, manufacturers generally accomodate for the less efficient use of the synthetically derived vitamin E by adding more.

    2 problems with centrum:

Extremely low potentcy, it is just enough vitamins so that you won't get scurvy. Not anywhere near what a bodybuilder needs.

No delivery system, most nutrients won't survive the gut, the tablet needs to have a delivery system where the nutrients will actually get to the spots where they need to be absorbed. Centrum doesn't have this, they use things like wax to make their tablets.

I would suggest AST's multipro 32X or Solgar VM-2000. Multi's are not expensive at all.

On a similar topic, does anyone have any thoughts on OneSource Pure Performance MV's?
