Just wondering how many ride Motorcycle?
The season has changed, spring is here and the bike is back on the road.
Its kinda' funny, especially on leg day "being barely able to walk out of the gym", and have people just watch as I struggle to get a leg over the bike.
Anyone else get to balance their way home on two wheels after the Gym?

I got an '05 Sporty, but I don't put too many miles on it. I have yet to take it to the gym. Its usually a weekend evening ride around town thing for me.
So...I say to a friend that I can't eat what she eats because "I eat funny". So she says "what does funny taste like?". So I say "Like rubber chicken".

Interesting topic. I had slowed down my workouts the last couple years because I had gotten really into riding and track days. I just decided this year to get back into hard training to get back in shape and actually put motorcycling on the back burners once again. I even had 2 bikes at one point where one was dedicated strictly for trackdays...an 05 Ducati 749R. I've sold that since I started working out again, but got to keep her older sister (aka my street only bike):
Sorry about the sucky picture quality.I believe and therefore I do.

It's been over thirty years since I've ridden a bike - was a Honda 450. Powerful enough for me at the time and was my main ride spring, summer, fall AND winter. But don't think I can do that now with the low pain tolerance I've developed...
I've been thinking wistfully again about riding - and have been thinking about the Harley Nightster. It's got noise, it's got power, and I think it's got some style.
What do y'all think? What would you put this aging hipster on if you had a choice?Last edited by FittyFour; 04-01-2007 at 07:22 AM. Reason: spelling

you bet!
I ride to the gym and every where I can. Got a Harley Davidson FXDX. It is my other love besides lifting. I take a trip every year on it, last year went to Chicago at the end of Sept, 300 mile trip for me. Ended up having to ride back in a down poor 3/4 of the way in 54 degree temps, no rain gear, just leathers. I actually liked it!! go figure. There was 3 of us and we got a youthful rush out of doing it. Crazy!!!
starting over!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I know what you mean about the IDIOTS. coming back from the gym last may I am going 60mph on a two lane hwy. lady (delivering pizzas) pulls out in front of me. she couldnt of timed it better if she was trying. t-boned her, bent my bike in half and broke my leg. a few plates and eight screws later I am probally lucky to be alive. this was my second near death accident on two wheels, cant seem to stop riding though.

I used to have an FXD Super Glide back when I was younger, (age 62). Rode it from Pa. to Sturgis, SD; WY; CO; etc. Only to have some idiot in a pick up run a red light and total it and nearly me with it. Now with one less leg and a few more years on me, I have to settle for a lighter bike. I now ride an '05 Sporty.

Nice bikes guys!
I'm addicted to riding, commute every day rain or shine ~80 miles a day round trip. Really saves on the fuel bill (((Cummins turbo diesel 4x4 - 20 MPG, BMW 650GS - 67 MPG)))
Two weeks ago I had my last warranty visit scheduled with the dealer, made it weeks in advance. Figured that by the time the visit was made the weather would be fine.
That morning....2 degrees F !!! Half way to work (20 miles) I had to stop for coffee and a warm up.
Another 20 miles South and the temp was hovering just below 20F. That was a "brisk ride"...
At least I've got heated hand grips. "yah' like that helped at that point"...
In the pic, I'm the guy in black on the right. Was doing an off road rally at Americade last year.

woohoo!!!
A topic that fits my current life to a "T"
To answer the question, If it's not raining, I'm riding. I take a backpack to work with me that has my gym clothes, lunch, snacks, two shakers with pre/post wo drinks, a 2.2l jug of water and at times my laptop too (damn thing weighs a ton).
My Current street bike is a 2005 Suzuki GSXR-600. Bought it brand new and it has just about 9k miles on it.

Before that I rode about 7k street miles on my 2004 Suzuki GSXR 600, which got turned into a race-only bike. Raced with WERA for about 2 seasons. I still have it and am not sure if I'm going to do any racing this year or not. For those that care, I will be at the MotoGP race this year at Laguna Seca!!!

And 5 years ago last September I bought my very first Motorcycle. A 1997 Honda CBR 600F3. I rode this bike 17k miles the first year I had it. Ended up putting 32k miles on it before I sold it. Best trip I had on it was with a group of 6. We left Northern Kentucky (Florence to be exact), Rode all the way to Portland, ME and back in 8 days. 2600 mile trip! Even went up Mt. Washington on it. Had a lot of good riding on it. Got quite a few "rain" miles on that one too.

Now, in that last picture I'm the "Big Boned" guy on the far right. 6' ~230lbs. Motorcycles are a large part of why I started slimming down. Got tired of being the fat guy in the leather suit!! I weigh about 50lbs less right now!

I've noticed for some time that there seems to be a "link" between bodybuilders and motorcycles...
This weekend my wife and I attended a "women's expo" mainly just to talk with some of the exhibitors to see if they would be interested in having booths at our bodybuilding show next year. I explained to my wife when we got there that I had always envisioned having a Harley Davidson Dealer selling HD clothing at our show as I felt it would go over well with the bodybuilding crowd. As it turned out there was a HD dealer at this show with a fantastic display trailer overflowing with HD clothing and accessories plus several hot bikes parked in front. While they may have not been getting much attention at this women's expo show they were interested in our show because I think they too know there is a "link"
Wait'll next year... varrooom

No pics handy, but I ride an 02' HD Road King. Had it since new, and have been riding since I'm, well, since I'm just about old enough to walk, LOL.
But yeah, I can relate. I ride from about now, through Decmber to work, gym, just about anywhere. It CAN be tough after a rough morning of squats or deads to throw the leg over the bike, let alone support the 750lb monster, LOL.Steve
