The "Good Snack Foods" Thread
So most of us have no trouble what-so-ever making our regular meals. tuna with a side of broccoli, or chicken with this, or that. etc etc etc....
But...some of us are the kind of ppl who are allways on the run, or sometimes were just hungry between meals, and are preety sick of the whey.
so im creating this thread so that we can all pitch in our good ideas of things to snack on. i'll contribute with my snacks, and why there great. and of-course, timing allways plays a factor.
-Nuts (any kind, there all good for you, some better than others, but forget the jalapeno flavor, or the honey roasted, if the less add-ons, the better)
-Jerky (beef, turky, or fish, great "on-the run" food, watch the sodium though)
-Bacon bits (i'm in love with this stuff, some semi-high-sodium though, but zero carb, 4g's of protein, and only 25calories per serving, gotta love it)
-Turkey pepperoni (yes, pepperoni, but go with the low-fat TURKEY one, very good stuff, low calorie, ok sodium, lots of protein and zero carbs. also, you have to love the re-seable bags they come in. one of the best "On-the-run" foods, and fits in your pocket too!)
-Cheese sticks (good stuff, 7g's protein, zero carb, but 500mg's of sodium for just one stick.....start uping the water intake...or sweat it out, your choice"
-Vegetables (again, all are good for you, but some are better than others. grab some carrots or broccili, put them in a bag, and your good to go)
----------------------------
Thats all i have off the top of my head guys, hoped you enjoy this. and next time you go grocery shopping, atleast consider checking out the items i've listed. great snacking stuff.
Again, hoped you enjoyed this, pass the love on, and post up some of your own "Tips" for "Good Snack Foods"

This is actually a nice thread, most people snack on carbs and neglect having protein as a snack. Will post some stuff up tomorrow, I have some nice lists.

I started eating low fat yogurt and pop-tarts from Kellogg's since I'm going to school and always felt hungry in between meals. Anybody know if that's any good?
Thanks.

Pop Tarts??? Stay away from that crap! Maybe as a cheat snack but dont eat that often.
I usually go with veggie sticks and nuts. Also I cook up some cubed chicken chunks and put them in a POG container. (Remember POGs?) Anyways its just a tall but narrow container. I just take the lid off and drop them into my mouth 1 at a time, no fork or napkins required.

im a big fan of protein bars. Delicious on the run snack if ur bulking, and u can even find some good tasting lower calorie ones if ur trying to stay lean. I prefer the pure protein bars.
If your really cutting nothing beats almonds and jerky.

Yaaaaa, pop tarts def have trans fat in them, which sucks because the brown cinnamon sugar ones are prob one of my favorite foods. POGS....classic, remember playing for slammers. POGS were one of the biggest fads ever until schools said it was gambling and outlawed everything.

It's easy to pick up on his sarcasm when we're all thinking exactly the same thing in an extremely sarcastic manner.

Almonds or peanuts for me. Love the dry roasted ones, but trying to stick to plain old nothing done with, nothing added.

free bump or wat ever, the point i was trying to convey that was ever so sarcastically removed is that snacking is not ideal... it makes it difficult to control ones macros since most snacks are usually lopsided in most cases.
sure not everyone can eat a meal every 2hrs but w/ a lil planning and lil EFFORT its not impossible to compile a sorte' of 6-7 small meals w/ equivilant caloric value and well rounded macros to achieve ones goal.
sorry my comedic efforts faild in endulging your appetite for quality humor.
lrn2diet k thnx

Salted Peanuts mixed with cashes, raisians, and even a little m'ms. Its not a bad snack but not a good one either.
I snack on apples and grapes; I never get sick of them.
And Baked Lays chips ( don't think they are that bad...)

I do that too. They also sell pitas made of soy and wheat flour where I live and they are 22 grams protein per pita. Can't really taste the difference.

roasted chickpeas
You can roast chickpeas and add a little flavoring to them. High protein, crunchy snack.
Spicy Chickpea Snack
Ingredients (use vegan versions):
1 can chick peas
2 - 4 tablespoon cooking oil
1 tablespoon each Cajun spice and chili powder
1 teaspoon each salt and pepper
Directions:
Preheat oven at 400oC
Drain and rinse chick peas.
Pour oil into baking pan, add spices, mix well.
Add chick peas and mix till well coated.
Place in oven for 15-20 minutes or until crunchy. Stir once half way. Enjoy cold or hot.
I like to eat these instead of chips or other junk while I watch a movie.
Serves: 4
Preparation time: 3 minutes

Yess I'm going to agree again that I love pita bread. Except , I put guacamole on the inside of the pitas + hummus on the outside. Tons of possibilities Honestly, whole wheat pita bread is amazing!
Some other good snack foods are apples they usually leave me pretty full.
But if you really are religious to your diet then just drink a huge glass of ice water.
