First off, stop lifting. Take some time off until you can see a doctor. Step two call a doctor and tell them of your pain, don't say its when you are just lifting say it hurts you day to day as well and even exagerate pain a little bit so you will be seen faster. Since you are young I would guess that it is just tightness and physical therapist can show you stretches and exercises to help loosen you up. But see a doc immediately, call tomorrow, you don't want to **** around with this, if you don't take care of it, it could very well be life-long!

    weight belt

A weight belt might help, but I do not use a weight belt most of the time, and I haven't experienced any problems, but its worth a shot.
If your not training with intensity, passion, and effort then dont step in my way

No do not get a weight belt. This will simply mask the problem at best. Weight belts in general are crap anyways because they make it so you don't develop torso strength which sets you up for injury. Also strengthening of ligaments/tendons/muscles can be extremely detrimental depending on what your injury is. Basically the longer you wait to stop lifting and longer you wait to see a doc the longer it is going to take to recoup, so say originally it would have taken you 3 weeks to recoup from the injury by waiting 3 weeks to see a doc and stop lifting it could take you 3 months to recoup. Get the picture? See a doctor immediately.

That was a bit random Gmav heheh, but I agree. Lower risk of injury to lower back and since less weight needs to be used its easier on the old joints.

well for one, what part of your back? if it's your lower back... you're finished for awhile

i had a minor lower back injury and it still hurts everyday.. this was almost 2 months ago during squats

    do this:

    take 1-2 weeks off lifting
    get a deep massage
get acupuncture (this helps more than you think)
    ice your back

ive done all these and my back still hurts but not too bad.. right now im tryign those magnet things.. maybe they'll help -- i'll try anything at this point

just make sure you take about 2 weeks off then when you start lifting just do excercises that doesnt involve any of your back muscles.. especially deads and squats...only thing you can do for legs is like leg extensions, calf raises and hack squats of those dont hurt.. they hurt mine bad

hope this helps.. back injuries aint anything to mess with..

Good advice, deep massage, acupuncture and chiropracter are a huge help. But get an x-ray and MRI first any qualified masseuse, chiropracter, accupuncturist will one this.

man oh man. There is NO COMPARISON now to before. I mean come on, how can you compare Russia in its current corrupted state to how powerful it was in the Soviet Union? Even though my father owns a company in Moscow which makes a decent fortune out of.

OF COURSE life was 100x better during the Sovie era then now. The only reason our family left Russia is because the Soviet Union fell apart, as we were quite wealthy during the Soviet era.

ALL of my relatives and friends in Russia are teling me life was 100x better during the Soviet Era, and the Soviet Union was extremely powerful so that should be of no surprise.

Well I know that politically they were more powerful, but their power was weakening and the economic situation for lower class was in shambles. Maybe the middle/upper class you know/talk to has become worse off, but unless I am mistaken the lower class economic status has increased.

What part of your back is hurting? You make it sound like your upper back beacuse you say you can't put any weight on your shoulders.

Your best bet is to talk to a doctor. Or preferably, a sports specialist or physiotherapist. Maybe even a chiropractor, preferably one with ART training.(I've never used that method but have heard lots of good things about it).

If it's a chronic pain around your lower back, it is likely caused by a muscle imbalance around your pelvis. This is common because of the huge dominance in quadricep exercises compared to hip extension exercises. If this is the case, you might get relief by strengthening your glutes, abdominals, and stretching your hip flexors. Short, tense hip flexors and weaker glutes(from lack of deadlifting and other hip extension exercises) will cause anterior rotation of the pelvis, and this can cause lower back pain.

Yeah bump on finding a chiropracter with ART Training, although any good deep massage therapist should have a good knowledge of ART. Where are you located, if you are in Massachusetts I can recommend one of the top chiropracters at least in this country, he works on a lot of olympic athletes, he isn't usually taking new clients though, but this guy knows his ****. After a neck injury that had docs/specialists baffled he figured it out, talked to my massage therapist and designed a plan to help fix me (I had a "frozen" disc in my neck due to neck trauma, since this disc was not moving at all, other muscles were compensating and causing problems, it was basically mobilization type stuff). PM me if you are around Mass or near it, if he's taking new clients its worth it.
