    Bench Press Technique

    It seems everyone says something different with regards to bench pressing... do you have to go all the way down to your chest or will you still be able to grow stoping and 90 degrees? will not going all the way down hinder your progress?
    I ask this question because it seems that i tend to injure myself more now (during sports activities) that i go all the way down.

    Full ROM. You gotta do it. You are much less injury prone if you keep your elbows in while benching.

    I only go down to 90 degrees or a little past that. My shoulders used to hurt after that so I stopped touching. Id say go for it I havent noticed any differeece. My chest still grew to a good size and is fairly strong.

    Its simple if u get injured than dont do it that way. I used to get my shoulders hurting when I played tennis after benching. So i stopped at 90 degrees and it went away.

    probbebly weak shoulders. if you have strong shoulders/cuffs then shoulder pain shouldn't be a problem when doing full rom.

    maybe your warmup is crap

    I dunno y mine hurt. I have strong shoulders and always warm up. But playing tennis like baseball has its toll on them.

    You also redirect the force so that your triceps are taking more of the weight. My solution, stop at 90 degrees, but do BB press also. Then you get the best of both worlds.

    This is how i do it:
    Lie on the bench. Push hard against the floor with your legs. Pull your shoulder blades together, then dig your upper back into the bench.

    Hold the bar with index or middle finger on the rings. But tuck your elbows in like in a close grip bench press.
