I tried it two or three times, but everyone there takes themselves so seriously. I'd fall over and want to laugh at how ridiculous I looked, but I was afraid someone would pummel me. I will admit it was relaxing and I felt really good afterward, but I don't think it's really for everyone, and I definitely wouldn't give up weights for it!

Yeah I have done it. Strength training is way better for building and maintaning muscle than any form of yoga could be.

Bikram yoga is one of the hardest things I have done physically (Its 90 minutes of stretching in 41 degree heat!) and I would continue to do it regularly if I could afford to! I loved it! However, I do love weights more and they are definitely more beneficial.

I do yoga, I think yoga and weight training go hand in hand. One hits where the other doesn't.

You can't replace one with the other though as they accomplish different things.

It would be best to combine Bikram with strength training. With Bikram Yoga, you receive the benefits of static strength and also flexibility.

It also depends on your goals. If your goals are to increase muscle mass and strength, the advantage goes to strength training.

I did about 6months of Bikram but found I got bored of it after awhile. The same moves and same sequence for EVERY class gets old after awhile. I don't think you could replace strength training with yoga and you definitely won't build huge amounts of muscle but it is good for flexibility.
