    PowerLifting on bench press

I wanna start doing some powerlifting on bench press to increase my benching. This guy from the gym told me that I have to find my max 1 rep first, Then do 50% of 12 reps on that, then 60%.... 8 reps and so on? I'm a complete newbie for powerlifting, please give me more info.
    thanks.

there are different ways to do it, which really depend on your routine or preferences. i just warm up, then go for about 5 reps on my working sets and pyramid the weight down. but then again, i'm not really a powerlifter but it works for me.

read the stickys and ask more specific questions.
