Bone Chips In Elbow: How Long Would Recovery Be With Surgery?

A few years ago I was biking on Kits trail here in Vancouver and I flipped over stairs and landed on cement breaking both elbows. While the left elbow healed I still have some chips in the right elbow.

While It doesnt hurt it affects my triceps training and considering surgery to get it removed. But I'm wondering how long I would have to stop working out until I can train again.

Probably quite some time...I'd still recommend seeing the doctor tho, regardless

i just had surgery for a chip in my elbow. it took me about 1 month of recovery. i started lifting at the same time of physical therapy. i only went to 1 sessionof physical therapy and did the rest of the stretching by myself because a friend had the exact same surgery like a year ago. so approx. 1 month.

If there is a chance the bone chips are grinding up cartilage I would get them removed.

I had a large bone spur in my elbow that was continuing to get worse. My range of motion was decreasing as well as locking on occassion. I had it removed. It took me approximately 6-8 weeks to get it back to 100%
I am still missing around 3-5 degrees in straightening but it doesn't bother me or my workouts.
I suggest you get it removed. For me the problem only got worse with time.

I have several spurs in my right elbow. I stretch twice day every day and I'm hoping to keep the surgery away for a long time. My doctor said eventually they will have to go and do some serious grinding.

    Surfgod,
Don't screw around because you won't be able lift for a few weeks. Especially if you want to lift the rest of your life. Get the chips removed, if all are doing is taking out debris you'll be back in the gym as soon as the swelling is down.

Don't give up. Keep fighting. Fight every day. When you get knocked down, get back up. You can do it. You will do it. There is no other way.

No havent seen doctor yet. I never notice it unless I do the smith machine triceps thing and lock it. No pain, just weirdness. Besides that one exercise I never feel it anywhere else in my life day to day stuff. Dont even know if its worth it.

Oh don't worry you will feel it someday and you will regret it the rest of your life.

This thread is a dead horse.
