When and what do you guys usually eat before working out?
I am playing around with this, and today I am going to eat about 2 hours before the gym. A piece of chicken, and a handful of walnuts.

You should be consuming a complex carbohydrate source along with a protein source about 45 minutes to an hour before hitting the gym. Don't underestimate the importance of carbohydrates. An ideal meal would consist of some oatmeal with whey protein which is what you can use for your post workout shake as well.

oatmeal is a great idea pre workout
you can also have a chicken or turkey sandwhich with wheat bread, or some chicken with sweet potatoes and an apple. gotta chug some carbs low on the gi about an hour before you workout. Makes a tremendous difference in your energy levels."Knowing is not enough, one must apply" ~ Bruce Lee

Is ground up oatmeal in PW whey shake good or bad? After reading all the threads about high GI vs. low GI pw, there seem to more 'expert' people on the board advocating low GI - recommending oatmeal, in fact.
If I were to do this, how much oatmeal (in it's powdered state) should I use in the shake PW?
