My mom keeps telling me that you can get cancer (or some bad effect on your skin) if you drink milk after eating fish (or I think it's if you eat fish after drinking milk). Is there any truth to it?

LOL. Of course not. Cancer is caused by radiation, carcinogens, and bad genetics.

God.. if that was the case I'd be dead 10 times over..
I have heard a saying that you shouldn't drink milk with seafood in general, why?? No clue.. lol, apparently some ppl can't digest their food properly w/ milk and seafood combined, and it gives them bad cramps, but hey, for 99% of the population I'm sure it's fine.
I think you should consider booking your mom in a mental institute, if she believes combining a food and a drink will case cancer.. now if that drink was methyl-propyl-alcohol, javex or some bleaching agents you might have a problem.
Cheers
P.S. Contrary to popular belief drinking Javex doesn't help build muscle, just FYIAlways, under the underneath...

Some people are allergic to the combination of milk products and fish. I am one of them.
You get a skin rash all over your body which goes after a few hours.

whats your cultural background out of interest? I know friends who have been told this growing up , along with:
1) Cauliflower at night is bad for you
2) Dairy and anything spicy is bad for you
3) Dairy and Alcohol within the same meal is bad for you
All such BS.This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man
