Something to ponder. We Cannot Let History Repeat Itself in Iran

03/18/07
Genocide by Sanctions:
We Cannot Let History Repeat Itself in Iran

At a time when the Bush Administration is considering employing economic sanctions against Iran for non-compliance with the IAEA we should first look to the history of Iraq and what our economic sanctions have done to them. This video will illustrate the horrors of economic warfare.

When economic sanctions or embargoes are employed against a country no real harm comes to the wealthy or the government who are able to purchase their needs from the black market and ride out the sanctions. In some instances the government and the wealthy can, and do, position themselves to profit from a newly created black market. The strong and the corrupt will be able to survive and thrive in such conditions. But, the innocent, the poor and the weak, will suffer and die. The oldest and the youngest, the women and children will be forced to go without medicine and milk while the country's economy fails. An estimated 500,000 Iraqi children under the age of five have died as a result of the sanctions -- almost three times as many as the number of Japanese killed during the U.S. atomic bomb attacks in WWII.

Economic sanctions is a form of violence which targets the innocent. We must learn from the past. We cannot let this happen in Iran. Especially as there is no credible evidence that Iran is creating nuclear weapons. After the WMD fiasco in Iraq we simply do not have any credibility. How can we win the hearts and minds of a people by destroying their lives?
Economic sanctions killed millions of innocent people in Iraq while making America and its allies in the Middle East wealthier. In the book Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins we learn that due to the SAMA deal made by the MAIN corporation that their exists conditions that allow for all the oil profits made by Saudi Arabia to be pumped back into American businesses who in turn build facilities and infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and provide them goods and services including security.

When Iraq could not sell its oil due to the UN embargoes, Saudi Arabia took up its market share and their profits increased drastically. Americans and Saudis were profiting from the deaths and the suffering of the innocent Iraqi people. We cannot let this happen Iran. This is the definition of evil!

Animals Attacking People And Other Unnatural Stuff

By James Donahue

There was a strange story from North Platte, Nebraska, about two stray cats that entered a home through an open door and attacked two women and a young boy without provocation.

Animal Control Officer John Pettit said he was forced to shot the animals with a tranquilizer gun before removing them to a veterinarian's office for rabies testing. He said the animals, both domestic cats, bit and scratched the two women on the legs and attacked the boy on the face.

The youth was bitten on his forehead, nose, left ear and right cheek, authorities said. All three victims were taken to Great Plains Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

This is not the first assault by a domestic cat to make the news in recent weeks. It seems that a house cat in Hailey, Idaho, went on a rampage and attacked its elderly female owner, sending her to the hospital for treatment of more than 20 bite wounds. Authorities said it was not the first time the cat had turned on the woman.

There have been other disturbing reports of animals and nature all over the world behaving strangely. It is as if Mother Nature has had enough of the human race and is beginning to turn her forces on us.

Some examples:

In Calcutta, India, a farmer thought stray dogs or jackals were killing his chickens after the birds began disappearing. Then he discovered one of the calves from his herd was killing and eating the chickens. He has actually filmed the animal eating a chicken alive. The local veterinarian said he could not explain it. "I've never read or heard about cows turning carnivorous," he said. When the cow gets full size, will he turn on its owner?

We heard about a hail storm that damaged the NASA shuttle and setting back a planned mission this month to the International Space Station. Hail storms are becoming more common, some with massive size chunks of ice that are causing a lot of damage. In Scott City, Missouri, a storm packing hail stones measuring up to three-inches in diameter smashed out windows, dented cars and house siding and made a lot of noise as it pounded rooftops.

Swarms of a species of giant hornets from China have now settled in France, apparently via a shipment of merchandise sometime in about 2004, and are spreading across the area. The hornets, which grow to just under two inches long and have wing spans of about three inches, are known for their painful stings and they attack and kill honey bees. The fear is that the insects will spread throughout Europe and the UK unchecked.

The warming seas, sparked by the warming of the planet, have caused an increase in the number of jellyfish along coastlines where people like to swim. Jellyfish are known for their visious stings so their presence is wrecking some of the best beaches. But now thousands of deadly giant jellyfish are invading the waters off the central coast of Japan. Fishermen say the massive things are getting caught in their nets and keeping the fish away. A sting from one of these monsters can be deadly. The poison causes a build-up of fluid in the lungs with the victim dying within 24 hours of an attack.

And finally we will mention the Asian carp, an invading fish that can grow up to four feet in length, weigh over 100 pounds, and leap up to eight feet out of the water and right into a fisherman's boat. This creature is in the Mississippi River, destroying natural fish populations there, and migrating northward toward the Great Lakes at a speed of about fifty miles a year. The concern is that it could enter Lake Michigan through the Illinois River and the Chicago Ship Canal and eventually destroy the natural ecosystem of the Great Lakes. The carp were imported from China by southern U.S. fish farmers in the early 1970s, and they escaped into the Mississippi.

Web censorship spreading globally
By Richard Waters in San Francisco

Published: March 14 2007 22:03 | Last updated: March 14 2007 22:03

Internet censorship is spreading rapidly, being practised by about two dozen countries and applied to a far wider range of online information and applications, according to research by a transatlantic group of academics.

The warning comes a week after a Turkish court ordered the blocking of YouTube to silence offensive comments about Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, marking the most visible attack yet on a website that has been widely adopted around the world.

A recent six-month investigation into whether 40 countries use censorship shows the practice is spreading, with new countries learning from experienced practitioners such as China and benefiting from technological improvements.

OpenNet Initiative, a project by Harvard Law School and the universities of Toronto, Cambridge and Oxford, repeatedly tried to call up specific websites from 1,000 international news and other sites in the countries concerned, and a selection of local-language sites.

The research found a trend towards censorship or, as John Palfrey, executive director of Harvard Law School?s Berkman Center for Internet and Society, said, ?a big trend in the reverse direction?, with many countries recently starting to adopt forms of online censorship.

Ronald Deibert, associate professor of political science at the University of Toronto, said 10 countries had become ?pervasive blockers?, regularly preventing their citizens seeing a range of online material. These included China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Burma and Uzbekistan.

New censorship techniques include the periodic barring of complete applications, such as China?s block on Wikipedia or Pakistan?s ban on Google?s blogging service, and the use of more advanced technologies such as ?keyword filtering?, which is used to track down material by identifying sensitive words.

Methods such as these are being copied as countries new to censorship learn from those with more experience. ?There?s a growing awareness of best practice ? or rather, worst practice,? Mr Deibert said.

Ken Berman, head of technology for the US state department arm that broadcasts Voice of America, said some countries were learning from China, which has the most experience in internet censorship, with Zimbabwe appearing to use the same technology.

While internet censors are learning to apply new technologies to expand their efforts, activists wanting to circumvent the controls are using the latest internet methods to advantage.

America's Government Showing Paranoid Behavior

By James Donahue

Two troublesome news clips caught my eye this week. It seems that the IRS has opened a new Whistleblower Office that offers cash to people who turn in their neighbors for cheating on their income tax returns.

Remnants of Hitler's brown shirts. Children groomed to turn in their parents for speaking out at home against the Furher.

Also California Contressman Henry Waxman has filed something called the Executive Branch Reform Act that will require personal recorded files on every individual or organization that calls an elected Washington official and the subjects of any conversations.

These two moves are extremely wicked because they threaten the very thing that has made the United States great . . . our freedom of speech and our freedom to lobby our elected officials without fear of intimidation.

When you employ fear tactics to stop the free flow of communication you destroy the function of a government that was originally designed to be for the people and by the people. It thus resembles a fascist form of government with those in power obtaining absolute control without receiving input from the electorate.

The IRS Whistleblower scam is so insidious we find it incredible that such a mechanism is actually in place and operating without someone having put a stop to it before now. Few of us can say that we don't know of someone that has expressed concern about having failed to properly file all of their earnings on their annual tax return.

We have even met people who boasted about having cheated.. I have met fly-by-night business operators who always demand cash payment and there is always that nagging suspicious it is because they can hide those kinds of operations from their books and escape state and federal taxes. It is kind of a wink-wink kind of thing among those in the know.

We talk freely to our friends about such things. I suppose that we assume that since we are all in the same boat, we can trust one another to help hide this information from getting to the ears of an IRS agent. This new whistleblower offer could force folks that cheat, and even the innocent, to shut their lips about taxes, and spend a lot of their time looking over their shoulder.

The Waxman reform act is much more subtle because it operates silently without the knowledge of the general public. One critic of the act, the Rev. Ted Pike of the National Prayer Network, said: "In Waxman's brave new world, Joe Q. Citizen is no longer viewed as a welcome source of input to the federal government. Rather, only Waxman and select colleagues, primarily in Congress, the intelligence community, and the military, are allowed to communicate freely with one another. The common American is viewed as a potential source of unhealthy opinions."

In other words, if you call your congressman to complain about a proposed bill coming up for a vote in the House, your name goes into a file and you could be subject to careful scrutiny as a subversive.

Governments that spy on their people are expressing a fear of their people. And that usually always means that the people on the throne have something to hide.
