Was I in the right or wrong here is basically what I wanna know?
My local max muscle owner is usually a cool guy. They have this thing where you spend 300 bucks you get a free 24 dollars to spend in the store.
So I hit my 300 so I got in with my friend today.... when we get there his sells associate comes up to us immediatly and says "we now price match bb.com so if you see anything here they have cheaper on there then let me know". So my friend guys White Blood and they price bb.com(27-28 bucks or whatever it is)...
So I then grab a bottle and decide I'll use my 24 free dollars on that and pay the 5 dollar difference or whatever it is..... So the owner rings me up and tells me I owe him 21 dollars..... he charges me full price for white blood(49.99). I tell him I thought the benefit of spending 300 is to get 24 free and my friend just bought white blood for 30 bucks.... Why would I pay 50 for it then get my 24 off? I see no benefit in that...
he got pissy with me and basically said "fine but your ripping me off this isn't how it works".... and didn't say thanks or anything for the purchases.... gave me my white blood with no bag and walked away.
Was I in the right here or being cheap? I'd love to hear opinions..

If they price match then you were in the right. Seems like he was just pissed that you had a loop hole to buy it for that low of a price. He lost money on that single purchase which is why he was prolly pissed. But since you will keep going back to add up to your 300 he will make money in the long run. I started to ramble but anyways you were right.

Thats a rough experience man but you were in the right 100% no question. It's not your fault that those are supposed to be the rules. If you get $24 in the store after $300 spent then thats what you should get without question or attitude. It all depends on how you feel about the situation but I probably wouldn't go back.

Overall I've heard most Max Muscle shops are very good. I know that we do demo's at some. Maybe you just found a tool at the shop you wnet to. They are out there, don't let one bad experience sway you.

The MM guy should have done a better job explaining his position to you or should have some "documentation" on the free $24 stuff to explain that it is "free" on regular price/full priced items and EXCLUDES discounts or price matches. His fault, not yours.
I see both positions here - he thinks your cheap and are taking advantage of a loophole and it left a bad taste in his mouth. I do think you took advantage however, so what? Because he offered a freebie and didn't think it through and you found a loophole then its not your fault, it is his fault.
He could have gotten out of that better. Still, you did get the product for essentially free (he lost money on the deal) so you came out way ahead here.
As for your choice to maybe not patronize them again...that's a personal choice only you can make. However, if you are generally happy with them and what they carry and this is the 1st icky situation you have had with them I would suggest dropping it and forgetting about it.
Below is not directed to you - its comments in general:
A lot of people do not realize this is a business and the business owners need to make money or they will not be in business very long. There is often this sense of entitlement among internet savvy shoppers who complain about the prices in brick & mortar stores. Well, there is a price difference for good reasons between the net and retail stores. A net company could work out of someone's garage or house. They do not need to pay rent (do you know what retail costs per square foot in a mall/strip mall) or any of the other overhead associated with running a storefront.
The advantage to buying from a brick and mortar is you get your product right then and there - if there is a problem it is convenient to return the stuff - you can sort of "see" what the stuff (especially new stuff) looks like, and you *might* be able to pay by check. You are paying for these conveniences and most people prefer them.
The advantage to buying from a net based biz is you get the best or better price. But you have to pay for shipping usually, you have to wait for the items to be delivered, if it is damaged or missing items this can mess up your plans for something (or at least delay them) and returning stuff can be a royal hassle sometimes.
If you have a good relationship with a particular on-line place and buy the same stuff over and over again (you know what you want and leave yourself a good time buffer to receive it) then you're a good candidate for buying the stuff online.
If you are not sure what it is you want, if you buy last minute and tend to change your mind a lot or if you "have to have it today" then I would pay more and buy from a brick and mortar.
FWIW, if I owned a brick and mortar I would not price match online retailers. You'll make no money (I might agree to match GNC or Shoppe though).
I've been in GNC talking to managers when some arrogant prick comes in and complains about the price of SizeOn in the GNC. My reply has been, "go buy it at mass or bulk then, beat it" - then they mill around and complain they need it today or do not want to wait or they do not have a credit card with enough limit left to buy it, whatever. Well if you want it today and can't pay with a credit card you're going to have to deal with paying more for it. So stop whining! It is what it is...a retail brick and mortar has fixed costs associated with it that an internet store does not.
