Cool Problm Building Abdominals

Hey BB.com,

This is my first thread, I just got my activation kinks ironed out so I can finally ask a few of my questions.

Regarding my abs. Back when I was born I had to have an operation that left a scar across my mid-section. It's rather large, and extends from centre of my left side to almost my bellybutton. My problem is that ever since I can remember, my abs on that side of my body have lacked substantially behind the ones on the right.

Just curious what would be the best exercise to balance out this situation. I know there are things like twisting crunches and such, just wondering what you would do. I understand your not doctors, just asking for exercise advice.

Regards,
Misery Messiah

I don't think you can work one side over the other much. Side bends and twisting crunches might help, but considering they'll use mostly obliques then you'll have the problem of one oblique bigger than the other, which is a lot worse since it causes postural problems and eventualy injury.

From what you describe sounds like the extremely skilled surgeon who operated on you sliced of a nerve, and that's why that side doesn't grow. You could always check with a doc to see if it can be repaired, but reparing nerves isn't quite like repairing muscle or tendon, I wouldn't get my hopes up...

Things I will take any chance I get to make fun of:

-HIT
-Frank Zane as Mr. Olympia
-Biceptz boyz
-Fat powerlifters talking thrash about bodybuilding while claiming to close the #x gripper
-Overtraining
-"How can I look like >random 140lbs guy<?"
-HIT
-Self-righteous guys who try to make everybody sound racist.
-Phil Heath for Mr. Olympia
-Strength workouts for bodybuilding

I'll keep updating the list.
