It's genetics, there are different parts to the bicep so make sure you work them with different type's of curls and your bicep should develop nicely.

Me and a friend have been doing the same exercises but he's bicep is longer whereas mine is thicker/wider.

    Biceps brachii
Origin: Long head - supraglenoid tubercle of scapula, Short h ead - cocacoid process of scapula
    Insertion: Radial tuberosity of radius.

Of course, there might be variations, due to genetics.

they are judged differently. you can train your biceps to enhance their weak points. theyre considered in each of the following areas:

    -length (preacher curls develop this)
    -thickness
    -peak (concentration/cable curls)
-development of both the inner/outer heads (wide grip/close grip curls)
-development of the underlying brachialius (hammer curls)

oh ya some have a bigger peak while others have a longer bicep more rounded less peak. You cant change this but you cant really tell how great of a peak you have untill you develop you biceps enough and get low enough bodyfat. Like i said you don't really know untill you build enough muscle.

Ya what fuzzy said who cares unless you plan on competing then it is very important.

    well..
    i've seen basically two types..
    ones long and flat
    ones short but high

im the latter, and im trying to fill up the gap between my forearms and my biceps by ALWAYS including preacher curls to my bicep routine...
i have alway heard that preacher are the key exercise to fill up that area..

Some people have biceps that reach all the way to their elbows(I think it's called a long head), and some have biceps that don't(short head). You can check to see by flexing and putting two finger in between your bicep and elbow: if they fit, you have a short head. Apparently, people with this kind of bicep need to do variations on regular exercises. Atleast, that's what I've read :P

lots of people here turn to genetics as the answer.

while yes, they do play a part in how your arm looks in the long run. But at this point in most of your lifting careers your arms are not completely filled out. give it time, train hard and eat big. I used to think that "Oh my bis are really far from my elbows." but thats just because i had only been at it for a couple months. Now they are much bigger and fuller.

Give it time, at this point/age dont even worry about genetics
