also I don't think the average Japanese eats all that great. They eat a lot of carbs and baked goods, plenty of fried foods like tempura/katsus, ramen....soy-sauce/SUGAR is common flavoring for cooking

People seriously underestimate how much walking there is just getting around the train stations. Some stations have hundreds of exits and just crossing one takes 15 minutes. A lot of walking = not fat and a healthier life. It sure as **** isn’t because of their diet. I’d be so fat if I lived in Japan just from convenience store snacks and strong zero. They have a lot of fried food as well but just not American sized portions.

There aren't many people at all who smoke cigs in Japan.

It's actually illegal to smoke cigs on the sidewalk in Tokyo, but bars can make their own rules. So oftentimes, if you're outside smoking a cig they would tell you to take it inside(lol).
