I think iron sights is essential for a first person shooter.
I also think it's essential for a "Tactical Shooter" to have doors you can open close, without that I don't think you can really call it a "Tactical Shooter"
Rainbow six lockdown was the first game to have both of these features together.

I watched Siege and decided it wasnt for me.. I dont know why the kids today love these spaz/twitchy FPS's. It all started with Unreal Tournament back in the day.
R6 was great because it was somewhat realistic, not spazzy/jumping constantly. These nerds that play fortnite really bug me out. That doesnt look healthy to play video games like an AI robot.USMC 0311

Bc the skill ceiling for these twitch games is just straight up higher.
It requires an insane amount of skill to play fortnite and build and edit like some of these top tier players do
I, played alot of fortnite back in the day and I had to literally relearn and remap all the buttons I was ever used to when playing fps games. I needed 5 extra keys within wasd just for building and editing.
I like both kinds of games but some of these twitch shooters require skill levels and reflexes way beyond what we knew in fps games growing up the old days of gaming.
Even back in the day the super fast paced fps twitch games were popular so it's not like things really changed. Unreal tournament was one of the biggest games back then, probably what fortnite is today for its time.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

I've been watching a bit of Raven Shield game play recently it looked good. Never liked using iron sights though, and as soon as I unlocked a good optic in any game I used it.
Siege is actually one of the least twitch shooters out there now. I mean on PC people still do a schitload of twitch like stuff, but the movement is slower than anything that isn't a hardcore milsim.
These twitch games are everywhere though and they are trash. Like I don't expect every game to cater to my playstyle, but it would be nice to get one casual multiplayer shooter (in the vein of COD or Battlefield) that had the movement speed and style of peak CODs (COD4-BO1) or Battlefield 3 or 4, obviously with QOL updates. Even BF 2042 feels fast as hell.
And it isn't just the speed alone, although the speed of current COD is way too fast for my tastes. The game mechanics they employ encourage even worse things. The last game I know of that did things to discourage that was BF1 that slowed you down if you crouch spammed or jump spammed. But like "snaking" in the new COD or slide cancelling is just pure cancer. I don't have a problem with the ability to cancel the slide motion, but the way they do it, it keeps their momentum going so they can just bounce across an area super fast. And it was originally unintended but they couldn't remove it because it was in the engine. Then they switched engines and it was gone and all the meth head streamers bitched about it so they added it back. I mean look at this BS
And again I don't expect every game to ditch that, it would just be nice to have one or a couple casual multiplayer FPS that doesn't have that. But clearly COD isn't going to do it. If they were going to go back to older COD movement for any game then the game to do it on would have been the one with all the old MW2 maps.
On top of that I have no faith in Battlefield any more. BFV was a disaster, and 2042 has been turned around somewhat but is still meh. Nothing inherently wrong with 2042 gameplay, but it's just not a Battlefield game, and on top of that the guns are inconsistent and the maps are mostly trash.See Krackerjacked's sig

Yeah the competitive gaming scene always seems to ruin everything, people just spaz out on stupid most effective strategies, everything I liked about Tom Clancy games has been lost. I still remember how disappointed I was when they cancelled the proper Vegas 2 sequel they were working on, think it was called Tom Clancy's Patriots, only to release Siege.

The reason the game has bad reviews is for 3 reasons:
1. No planning phase like the previous rainbow sixes
2. No one shot kills like the previous rainbow sixes
3. No switching players like the previous rainbow sixes
But I'm sure if the game wasn't called "Rainbow Six" it would have won game of the year.
Because when this game came out there was no other game that had both iron sights and doors.Last edited by johntt1994; 04-23-2024 at 03:04 PM.
