If a test shows up SARS COV 2, you have SARS COV 2. There's no mental gymnastificating out of it.
So the article saying that 90% of positive covid tests "may have been false" is simply not true.
Sure, some of the peole with low virus count MAY not have gone on to develop coronavirus disease, and MAY not have been infectious, but there's no way of telling at the time of testing, so saying "Your count is low, so you'll probably be okay, go on back to your job in the old folks home and let's hope for the best, huh?" would be irresponsible in the extreme. Hindsight is a helluva thing.

As I recall, the maker of the test itself chimed in at some point and said it was being misused.

Average age of those who died was 78. 80% were obese and on average they had something like 3 comorbidities. I can't even remember, been awhile since I pointed this out.

Meaning, hate to be rude or cold, but people who were already on their way out (on average).

Now, would many of some of these people gone on to live longer lives without covid? Surely. It was a nasty disease for some people, but generally only a risk to people who were already unhealthy and/or very old with compromised immune systems.

Young and healthy people, despite the media's attempts to inflate any situation where someone (seemingly) was not at risk, the numbers don't lie -- and those numbers tell us, it was old, fat and sickly people who were the ones dying on average.

It's funny, the same people who get up in arms every time someone posts about a young healthy person or athlete dying 'suddenly' of heart disease, you never see that when the media tried to paint covid as a thread to young fit 30 year old adults -- or even children, who statistically are all but immune (800 adults aged 6m-18y died in total from covid here in the USA, and of those -- I guarantee they were obese and had massive health issues).

And, full disclosure to my own biases, I have in the past jumped to soon on some young person dying to smear the vaccines or at least incriminate them by suspicion. Goes both ways, I guess.

Yes indeed, so that's not really a false positive, right? It's just stating the sensitivity of the PCR test and how capable it is of picking up even the smallest viral load, so that is the test you want to know if you have the virus. Generally, if you have the virus, the test will be positive.

The key point is that there is a difference between infection and disease. Infection just means one cell is infected with virus, but not clinically relevant if you're not really symptomatic, since you are not technically diseased - just infected.

But it's good to know if you are merely infected since now you can take pro-active measures. You can be vigilant about hygiene. You can get vaccinated. You can start wearing a mask to reduce spread, since being infected means you can infect others even if you're not yourself diseased etc.
