TBH I think the main thing is that it gives scientists a better view of solar events, including looking at the sun explosions, solar flares, etc. I think it might have the potential to unveil some creepy findings, enabling more fearmongering about things like solar flares disrupting the internet / technology, global warming, timeliness before sun implodes, and some creepy timelines associated with that stuff. But more rational folks will not give a chit.

I used to go up to Lake Placid, NY every year. If it weren't on a damn Monday I'd head up there and try to see the eclipse from the top of Whiteface. That'd be frickin cool as hell.
