    yes renting is cheaper, the landchads are in competition with each other for rentcels and a lot of landchads, the ones who brag about being locked in to low interest rates, they are the ones lowering the rent prices.
    I had a tenant whose lease was up and he moved out of my rental in January. He was paying $1600 per month - and that was only because he had been a solid tenant and I didn't want to raise the rent on him "just because."

    But he moved on though.. New tenants moved in March 1st, and fair market rent in that zip code is now $2k per month. They signed the lease, gave me a $2k deposit along with March rent, and just like that I'm getting an extra $400.

    But sure.. you all go right ahead and believe we're all lowering the rent prices lol.

    I'm the first one to break down the numbers on how renting makes more financial sense than buying in certain circumstances.

    But just because the rent payment is less doesn't mean it is stupid to buy. It has to be a fairly significant difference to make up for the equity and appreciated value of owning an asset over time, even with interest and things like maintenance and property taxes. Then you also have to weigh in the other factors like needed space, flexibility of movement, etc.

    In Canada in pretty much any major city it makes ZERO sense to buy and hasn't for years in most cases. Rent is still quite cheap in comparison to the costs of owning even if taken over the span of ten or more years.
