I have an autistic cousin who hasn't worked more than about 20 hours a week in his entire adult life. He intentionally keeps his hours low because the government would slash/lower his social security checks (which he's received his entire adult life) if he actually earned more money through working. Dude lived with his mother and banked/spent that chit up until the day she died. This man has taken college courses and passed the damn things at one time (albeit on a super part-time basis for that, too) while claiming he wanted to become a psychiatrist one day, he is absolutely capable of working some full-time 40 hour a week job if he weren't such a lazy bastard.

Now he lives with his brother who keeps him on board because the social security checks help pay their rent. My other cousin (the brother who moved in to take over for their deceased mother) moved a Mexican gf in he met online from out of state. The Mexican gf has 3 kids, (all of whom she collects gov assistance on), none of them are his kids, and moved from a state with less social bennies to come here for increased state benefits plus cucking my dumbassss cousin's inheritance. The only one of the 3 who has worked at all in months is the austic dude who gets the social security checks as long as he keeps his work hours low.

I say 40s because that's the time about all the bad chit will creep on them

your own health issues
parents die / they have health issues
all your friends have families and jobs (lucky to have any friends at this point)
once you're 40 you really can't just turn your life around , you can kinda lie to yourself in your 20s and 30s that there is still time to make it

I disagree and I think that if you're able to do some magic and adopt the right mindset and attitude you can change your life in your 60s, let alone your 40s.

It's just that if you're 40, able bodied, and living off of welfare you might not be able to succeed in changing your attitude and/or dealing with your mental health issues that are holding you back.

As for being a dole bludger with no ambition or plans to change, even at 22 or 23 things are not looking good for you IMO, let alone 30.

By 30 you should have some credentials and some decent experience in life, even if you fugged up in your 20s.

There's some relatives I have who have never worked a day in their life, and some who haven't in over 3 decades for various reasons, srs. Mental disorders (autism/aspergers/schizo), alcoholism, other drugs, fear of failure, leeching off of other family, prison sentences, and more.

One fell into alcoholism and lost their life as they knew it. Divorced, lost all assets, fired. Been over 5 years and still overdrinks and goes to the hospital frequently, wasting away.

One never started a career to begin with, and honestly kinda views working as beneath them, blames everything on social anxiety, suffices with govt aid mostly.

One had a stroke at birth and suffered mental deficiencies their entire life. Will never work.

Religious programs have the same exact efficacy as other programs like AA/NA and inpatient medical rehabilitation.

And it is less than 2% success rate.

yeah but not in their 60s. Ive drank and done a lot of drugs with people in their 60s. These people have no intent on changing. And dont give me no chit like "well im sure its happened out there somewhere" crap. Im not interested in 1 in a million type stories. Vast majority never change. More power to them if they do but im not interested in numbers so small that they dont even make up 1%

Friend of mines dad had a talk to me when i was about 12 saying he didnt like that i didnt go to church and wasnt religious crap. He flat out told me he was a crackhead and he just went into church and prayed and never did crack again. Either he was full of chit or he wasnt that big of a crackhead. Ive done crack. I actually admire people who can be happy on such a literally, poverty-tier income. Literal poverty. My stipend alone 150% of that and that is nowhere near enough for me so I take extra work.
