What are your thoughts on able bodied people spending basically their entire existence living primarily off of government handouts?

They mind be able bodied but they're not able minded.

steal and beg - nobody in their right mind sits on government assistance if they are able to work, doing f*ck all.
The only reasonable people on welfare are those that are working for cash and taking what they can front the government - scummy, but you gotta respect the hustle/grind."It's hard to be yourself in a world filled with haters" - WiseOldApe.

Govt assistance is like only $400 a week now, even accounting for the ridiculous cost of living.
I actually admire people who can be happy on such a literally, poverty-tier income. Literal poverty. My stipend alone 150% of that and that is nowhere near enough for me so I take extra work.
If someone can actually be content with utter peanuts, I admire it in some small way. I don't admire the leeching and lack of ambition, though.Back off, Warchild.
Seriously.

How do you feel about people able bodied folks who are perfectly capable of working some sort of job who choose not to do so because they'd prefer to collect social security checks and various forms of welfare handouts because a doctor called them autistic back when they were children?
You'd be surprised what people can all get depending on where they live. In many blue states, they can get housing assistance, utility bills assistance, free food and supplies for their children if they have any, free food for themselves at food banks, free food stamps to sell off for drugs/cash, etc. all at once.
Don't forget the social security checks they get by trumping up their "disability" to be a bigger deal than it is. Extremely common with autists to be collecting ss checks their entire adult lives, ded fkn srs. That can easily be over a grand a month even in lower cost of living areas. Combine it with other forms of assistance, and you'd be surprised at how well some of them can manage as long as they keep their general spending habits under control.

LOL this.
I was out of work for a while because i litirally COULDN'T work due to health issues and now that I'm feeling better, I'm working on transitioning careers and working TWO jobs to make more money.
$400 a week isn't even enough to pay your rent, let alone to feed a healthy man's ego and desire to succeed."It's hard to be yourself in a world filled with haters" - WiseOldApe.

Are you referring to social security checks for people under retirement age--like those who have a disability. I may have to do that when I get down to end of tapering off of my psych meds, which I don't want to do, but I may have no choice.
I wouldn't expect my Dad to work. He can barely walk.
But if you're able-bodied I think you should work. Even when I retired I plan to volunteer in an animal shelter, which is "work". I volunteer at the animal shelter when I'm in between jobs.Make It a Great Day! Just call me Dusty. It's a Clown ๐คก World out there.

That sounds like a typical 'late bloomer' who hasn't got theirr sh*t togehterr yet.
Very few able minded and mature people sit at home doing f*ck all, relying on government handouts and assistance for sustenance.
Heck even those who are not able bodied, yet have an able mind find ways to make money.
When I was a youngin at uni and receiving government benefits you best believe I was working retail and husting on the side (SRS)."It's hard to be yourself in a world filled with haters" - WiseOldApe.

Itโs really, really hard. I have to mentally take deep breathes and say that Iโm here to give them some happiness even if itโs just a few hours.
The exciting part is when you see them get adopted. The crappy part is when theyโve been abused or abandoned.
Iโve taken in 3 of them so that does happen.
Nothing against you not working as youโre a good guy. Iโm speaking in general.
Thatโs awesome you would give money to shelters. If Iโm rich Iโd love to buy a house to care for a lot of them. Itโs hard as diseases spread quickly. We had to constantly disinfect the cages.Make It a Great Day! Just call me Dusty. It's a Clown ๐คก World out there.

I have an autistic cousin who hasn't worked more than about 20 hours a week in his entire adult life. He intentionally keeps his hours low because the government would slash/lower his social security checks (which he's received his entire adult life) if he actually earned more money through working. Dude lived with his mother and banked/spent that chit up until the day she died. This man has taken college courses and passed the damn things at one time (albeit on a super part-time basis for that, too) while claiming he wanted to become a psychiatrist one day, he is absolutely capable of working some full-time 40 hour a week job if he weren't such a lazy bastard.
Now he lives with his brother who keeps him on board because the social security checks help pay their rent. My other cousin (the brother who moved in to take over for their deceased mother) moved a Mexican gf in he met online from out of state. The Mexican gf has 3 kids, (all of whom she collects gov assistance on), none of them are his kids, and moved from a state with less social bennies to come here for increased state benefits plus cucking my dumbassss cousin's inheritance. The only one of the 3 who has worked at all in months is the austic dude who gets the social security checks as long as he keeps his work hours low.
Keep telling me about how these people aren't getting enough free chit lmaoLast edited by FelixTheCat1919; 03-27-2024 at 10:47 PM.
