Well yeah, all the gamer buzz surrounds the same sorta chit. People who are still actively engaged in the hobby are largely buying the same chit.

We're in the age of the Marvel movies when it comes to gaming. Big sales numbers for some chit that a lot of people aren't into. This is an odd time for the media industry.

As for retro gaming, it's become a sort of silent majority. They have no real presence on gaming sites or big forums, but it's become surprisingly popular.

It doesn't make sense to me though. How can games like Halo and NFS come out and only have a few thousand players? Those are just examples but it's mind blowing to me. These types of games used to clear 100k easily in the past. It is very strange dude.

Yeah I think that's an indicator of how many people are simply checked out of today's gaming industry who used to be into it. It's like the popular stuff is more popular than ever, while everything else seems to be struggling or niche.

Games were $20 back in 1980, you still expect them to be $20 45 years later??

Many of these games are not even worth $10 srs. On PC Epic literally gives them away for free.

Unless it's a Fromsoft, Atlus, or Nintendo game never buy on launch. Buy it half priced in a year when the game is finally fixed.

if youre talking about the new halo or nfs games they clearly dont have the same heart and passion anymore made by gamers and instead are made by purple haired sjws.

While true I still think halo infinite is one of the higher quality games that would warrant a 70 dollar price tag

-fully fleshed out player campaign, single player or Co op up to 4 people
-Fully fleshed out multiplayer, with ranked and casual Playlists
-forge mode, for users to tinker and create endlessly
-ability to create custom lobbies and support anything made in forge mode
    -good gfx
    -120fps mode

Imo, regardless of how you feel about Halo, it is a more complete game than what most other devs are offering. It's popularity is a whole different subject, but I don't see how you could argue that halo isn't packed full of much more content than most other games of the same price.

I miss when games launched and had multiplayer and single player and Co op all in one game. These days you're lucky to get more than just a single player campaign.

Depends on the game tbh. If I'm getting even 10-20 hours out of a game and I'm paying $75-$80 after tax I mean chit $4-$8/hour of entertainment is OK by me. At this point in my life I know what games I do and don't like so I don't need to play everything that comes out.

I was just using those as examples. They ruined the latest NFS game with constant cop chases. That being said none of these types of games get popular anymore. Even games like Tekken and Forza Motorsport barely have any players and they recently came out.

This. Every game I've bought lately has been 50+ hours. In what fuking world is $70 too much for 30-100+ hours of entertainment? Even PS2 games were $50 or even $60, and they were probably 8-12 hours of gameplay on average.

if we compare games to other sources of entertainment there are plenty of more expensive stuff out there. you don't have to buy the newest and latest most expensive games every month. Plenty of quality games on the cheap you can spend your hours on. All I'm saying is there are way more expensive forms of entertainment out there lol. A game you can get 40 hours of enjoyment out of for $80 is pretty good in my eyes. Maybe it's expensive to people who game 40 hours a week and always needs to buy the new shiny stuff.

For real, I can spend $70 in dinner between my wife and I, spending $70 for sustained entertainment is not a big deal.

This ^ Cheapest $ per hour of entertainment going if you are into gaming. The Last of Us Remastered could have cost me $10k and it still would have been a great deal for me.

This. Nothing compared to my passion the original tlou . It’s everything that followed afterward when they lost a lot of straight gamers who stopped liking it tlou 2. And the hbo series sadly. The OG I had a lot of hopes for what ND would do with the whole franchise in the future .

I paid $50 but the original experience, time, and feels I had put into it it was worth $50k easy.

if games kept up with general inflation they would be more expensive.

Games cost more to make than ever before, and relative inflation cost less than ever before.

Gamers are just entitled and want perfect 12/10 games they dont have to pay for.

ultimately this industry is going to fail cause they'll only be able to make money off live service microtrans games

The truth is games have been getting much MUCH cheaper despite exponential increases in development costs.
This! Man I had to GRIND out in that summer heat doing yardwork for neighbors to get one game and it better be a good game because it would take like a month or more to make enough money for another game.

Luckily for me and my younger brother, games like FF6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Link to the Past and Mario All stars had S tier replay value.
