It's basically something you do if you don't know any better, right? IME most people are well set in their ways past a certain age and they're not changing because of the great points you made in an argument

Is arguing with people a waste of time and energy?
"It's hard to be yourself in a world filled with haters" - WiseOldApe.
"Why be anything when you can be an influencer?" - WiseOldApe.
"It's not about what is said - it's about who it is said by" - WiseOldApe.
"People strive for equality, once they attain it, they fight for superiority" - WiseOldApe.
"Nobody hates authority more than one who themselves lusts after that exact authority" - WiseOldApe.

If it’s with someone you have a good trusting relationship with, there’s a possibility of changing their mind. But it goes both ways, you have to be open to having your mind changed too.
If it’s just an acquaintance, it depends on what the emotional stakes are. If they (or you) are not already emotionally invested in a position, there’s room for influence. But the more your position becomes tied to your emotions, the harder it is to break.
If someone I don’t know that well wants to argue a point that they clearly care a lot about, I may stick up for my point of view just to sharpen my own arguments, but have no illusions of changing their mind.

Depends who you're arguing with. I argued with pretty much an outdated AI generated script last time. If you're trying to get a point across, it's a waste of time.
If you're bored, you can troll him and experiment with how strict the robot is bounded by it.Last edited by georgeenoob; 03-17-2024 at 01:25 AM.
