    having issues finding out the right weights for a lot of exercises

    does anyone else have this issue? things often feel too easy or too hard for the rep ranges I'm trying to achieve and I end up using up all my energy experimenting with weights.

    It takes time to learn. This is also why we don't recommend changing exercises so frequently. Mastery of movement comes before strength gains and hypertrophy.

    I like to use strengthlevel.com to narrow things down, by first picking a weight I can handle and then going to failure to test my ability with it. It's not a perfect system but it does get you within the ballpark.

    No, you did not "use up all the energy". Just felt that way, that all.

    Also, we need to experiment, this is how we find the right way. Right? Experimentation is always less effective than production. I do not see an issue here.

    Next workout you will remember the weights and numbers of reps. Doesn't take long to memorize all weights on every exercise, those weighs and reps coming with strong emotions, which makes good memory retention.

    What I've found that's best to do is go with too easy and use the ramping up time to develop a regular pattern of workout where you can spend more energy paying attention to your practical limits and make more consistent progress as you have to make improvements to more discrete breakdowns in form.

    As GS said, go with too easy and get all the reps. Next workout for that exercise you'll be adding weight since you got all reps previously. With continuous progression eventually you'll reach the spot where you stall. Starting at that spot is a mistake.

    You should log and document these numbers. It's okay if you burn a week of lifting experimenting with rep ranges, but definitely keep track of these so you don't waist time in the future.
