Are you new to the NBE or something? People have been allowed to travel/double-dribble and haven't been playing defense since LeBron's "crab dribble". Why else do you think it's so common for fools to score 60 and get damn near a triple double while doing so? Even a perennial loser like Lillard has scored 70.

You're in for a shock. 2000s were the best defensive era, we're watching the worst that I've seen (Disclaimer: I've only watched games extensively from the point Magic/Bird came into the league and onward, so can't really speak fairly on anything before that). Current NBA is trash. Star treatment is at an all time high. No one plays defense until the playoffs. There's a game almost every week where both teams score 150+ points in regulation. The play style is trash too. The Warriors popularized the 3 ball, Dantonio Rockets were unwatchable though. Just dribble past half court and jack up a 3. If it's not that it's ISO ISO ISO screen screen screen then a 3. Sad state of affairs. Stats are so inflated nowadays, Lebron's scoring record is going to be the last longevity record that has any real meaning.
